Why is this dangerous for the child’s health?

It is important to understand that although poor posture is not a disease, incorrect body position creates an extremely unfavorable background for the development of numerous pathological conditions and diseases.

Lung ventilation and blood oxygen saturation often deteriorate. This leads to decreased immunity, frequent colds, delay mental development, decreased endurance and load tolerance.

Due to the fact that the shock absorption function suffers spinal column, internal organs and the brain experience increased loads when walking and running. This disrupts the blood supply to the brain and spinal cord, liver, pancreas, heart. This, in turn, leads to the appearance of a whole bouquet chronic diseases- cholecystitis, hepatitis, myocardial dystrophy and so on. The muscle corset weakens, muscle tone and axial load on the joints are distributed incorrectly. Because of this, osteochondrosis, arthrosis, flat feet, and osteoporosis develop at an accelerated pace.
There is no doubt that preventing postural disorders in children is very important for maintaining health throughout the rest of their lives.
What are the types of posture disorders?

There are two types of spinal curvature due to incorrect posture in children:

  • in frontal plane changes are noticeable if you look at the child from the side,
  • V sagittal plane the changes are visible when viewed from behind, from the back.

In the first case, there are three main types:

  • lordosis, when the deflection of the back increases forward - this is cervical and lumbar regions spine
  • kyphosis, when the bend in the backward direction increases and the back becomes “round”, arched backwards - such changes are characteristic of thoracic spine
  • “flat back”, when, on the contrary, the curves of the spine are smoothed out and not increased.

In the second case, only one type of defect is distinguished - S-shaped back. Sometimes this type is confused with scoliosis.

Correcting posture in children

There are several simple ways recognize pathology in the earliest period. For example, you can ask to do a forward bend from the main stance without bending your knees. In this case, the vertebrae (if you look at the back) should run strictly along one line, not deviating either to the right or to the left. The back should be symmetrical, with the shoulder blades parallel to each other. Another test option is from a standing position, fix your shoulders and ask to turn your head to the right and left alternately. The angle of rotation of the head in both directions should be the same.

In schoolchildren, treatment of these disorders is especially important, since studying often predisposes to incorrect body posture in a sitting position. As a result, the muscles “remember” the incorrect tension and postural disorders are “fixed” on a subconscious level.

In children, physical exercises are primarily used to correct posture. Their goal is to correctly distribute the tone of various muscle groups, increase the strength and endurance of the muscles that support posture. Exercises to correct posture in children are selected strictly individually, taking into account the type of impairment, degree muscle tension, general physical fitness.

Except physical exercise are widely used by our doctors special massage And manual therapy. It is necessary to properly organize the daily routine, highlighting sufficient quantity time for active recreation. But we must remember that often excessive physical activity only harms your posture, especially if it is chosen incorrectly. Therefore, only a doctor can give specific recommendations, taking into account the level of physical development And individual characteristics pathology. For example, swimming has a very good healing and healing effect, but in some cases it is preferable to swim crawl, in others it is necessary to choose only breaststroke.

Contact us for a thorough diagnosis and assessment of your child's health. If we do not find pathologies, you will receive advice on how to correctly build a daily routine, nutrition and motor activity schoolchildren to prevent the development of such problems. Scoliosis is a persistent lateral deviation of the spine or its segments from the normal straightened position. Pronounced asymmetry of the body is accompanied not only by curvature of the spine, but also by protruding scapula or ribs on one side (right or left).

Scoliosis most often progresses in adolescence, especially during the period when a teenager quickly grows in height. That is, in age from 10 to 17 years. It is important during this period to pay special attention on the condition of the child’s musculoskeletal system. Disproportional development of bone and muscle structures leads to pronounced visual defects. But only X-ray examination and the conclusion of an orthopedic traumatologist are objective for diagnosing scoliosis and determining its degree.

It is necessary to begin treatment with an accurate diagnosis and solve the problem comprehensively, strictly individually for each case.

Having extensive experience in the correction and prevention of this disease, specialists from the V.I. Dikul Centers will carry out all the necessary measures:

  • Consultation with a neurologist or orthopedist
The doctor conducts an examination and gives directions for the necessary studies.
  • Computer optical diagnostics
Determines the condition of the back muscles, records in detail the deviation from the central axis of the spine in all planes
  • Consultation with a physiotherapy doctor
The exercise therapy doctor will conduct functional testing of individual muscles and muscle groups
  • Consultation with a physiotherapist
The doctor will identify areas that need relaxation and stimulation.

Based on the data obtained, an individual treatment program is formed, including:

1 Classes with a physical therapy doctor on an individual movement therapy program. During the lesson, corrective exercises of an asymmetrical nature are performed for an hour under the supervision of a doctor. breathing exercises, exercises on a crossover simulator, without axial load on the spine, post-isometric muscle relaxation.

2 Physiotherapeutic procedure of myostimulation. A targeted, deep impact on weakened muscle groups will tone them, complementing classes in the rehabilitation room

3 Consultations with exercise therapy doctors and an orthopedist-traumatologist will allow you to monitor the dynamics of the treatment process and promptly make changes to the treatment program

“A positive result is achieved through the joint desire of parents, children and specialists to solve the problem of scoliosis - its prevention and correction. We are always happy to offer you our knowledge and experience to make your child’s life healthy and full of joy.”
