Word psalm means song. This psalm was composed by the prophet David when he repented of his great sin - he killed the pious Uriah the Hittite and took possession of his wife Bathsheba. This psalm is called repentant because it expresses deep contrition for the sin committed and a fervent prayer for mercy, and in depth of repentance it perhaps surpasses all the others. Therefore, this psalm is often read in church during services. All of us, guilty of many sins, should recite this psalm as often as possible, delving into every word.
Have mercy on me, O God, according to Your great mercy, and according to the multitude of Your mercies, cleanse my iniquity. The sin is great, so the prophet asks God for great mercy. Only God's ineffable bounties can cleanse grave iniquity.
Above all, wash me from my iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin. The Lord has already announced to David through the prophet Nathan that he is absolving him of his sins for repentance (2 Sam. 12, 13) - but David prays that God will completely cleanse him of sinful impurities. So we, too, having received remission of our sins in the Sacrament of Repentance, must still continually cry out to the Lord so that he will destroy the very root of sin in us.
For I know my iniquity, and I will take away my sin before me.. Have mercy, Lord, cleanse me! Sin weighs heavily on me, I cannot forget it, I see it day and night in my conscience, which constantly disturbs my soul.
I have sinned against You alone, and have done evil before You, so that You may be justified in Your words, and be victorious, always judging You (in the Russian translation of the psalm: so that You are righteous in Your judgment and pure in Your judgment). Not human, but God's judgment the prophet introduces himself (David is a king, and he is not afraid of human judgment). Hiding lawlessness from people, you cannot hide it from the Supreme Judge, Who sees everything secret; Before God's truth, our wickedness is exposed - our untruth and unrighteousness, and all our excuses are powerless.
Behold, I was conceived in iniquities, and my mother gave birth to me in sins. All of us, descendants of Adam, are conceived in sins, inheriting original sin. We plead with God for forgiveness by presenting to Him our natural tendency to sin.
You have loved the truth... (note the word if you- it indicates the 2nd person: Here, You loved the truth). You, Lord, You yourself are the Truth ( I am the way and the truth and the life- In. 14, b), You love the truth and want us to remain in the truth. And I confess that You love the truth and hate lies, therefore I confess and acknowledge before You that I have sinned.
Thou hast revealed to me the unknown and secret wisdom of Thy- the unknown (hidden) and secret (that is, the hidden secret) of Your wisdom You showed me. (King David speaks about his prophetic gift, that God, by the Holy Spirit, revealed to him the inexpressible secrets of His Providence; but every Christian also receives in the Sacraments of the Church the gifts of the Holy Spirit and through the teaching of the Church touches the hidden secrets of God’s Providence, and each of us is told unknown and secret wisdom God: we have been taught the true faith, we have been shown the path to the Kingdom of Heaven.) How did I respond to these gifts of grace? Sin!
Sprinkle me with hyssop, and I will be cleansed; Wash me, and I will be whiter than snow. Here is the hope of completely getting rid of sin and being filled with joy. The prophet likens the action of the Holy Spirit, which cleanses all filth in us, to hyssop.
My ears hear joy and joy. Give me, my hearing, the gracious news of pardon, rejoice and rejoice me!
Humble bones will rejoice. The sin committed crushes not only the soul, but also the body: under the weight of sin, the bones become weak and humble; when the sin is forgiven and the unbearable burden is removed from the conscience, then the whole body is filled with joy (remember how sometimes we sigh with deep relief and straighten our shoulders).
Repel your face from my sins, and cleanse all my iniquities- destroy them from the book of my life.
Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a right spirit in my womb. Restore the fallen soul to primeval beauty, destroying in me the impurity of ancestral sin. Give me the grace of rightness!
Do not cast me away from Your presence, and do not take Your Holy Spirit from me.. Sin separates us from God, from the Source of Life - and we pray that we do not find ourselves in pitch darkness, where the face of God is not visible.
Reward me with the joy of Your salvation, and strengthen me with the Lord’s Spirit. Reward, return to me the joy that I enjoyed when I was protected by You; give me the gifts of the Holy Spirit.
I will teach the wicked Your way, and the wicked will turn to You. When You deliver me from sin and give me the Holy Spirit, I will be able to teach the lawbreakers again, so that they walk in Your ways, says David, His chosen one, to the Lord. And for us, this vow contains the same thought as the petition of the Lord’s Prayer: hallowed be Your name in us, Lord; for if You cleanse our sins and by Your grace we begin to live according to Your will, then with our very lives we will be able to preach Your truth and turn the hearts of people to You.
Deliver me from bloodshed, O God, God of my salvation... The Prophet David asks God to save him from the shed blood of Uriah, in which he seems to be drowning (from blood is a more accurate translation of the words of the psalm). Words God of my salvation equivalent to words God my Savior- an appeal to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. With these words of the prophet, we cry out to the Savior to deliver us from the murderous effect of our sins.
My tongue will rejoice in Your righteousness. Lord, open my mouth, and my mouth will declare Your praise. My lips are now sealed with sin. Having received remission of sins, I will not remain silent, but will begin to testify about You, sing Your praises and glorify Your mercies.
For if you had desired sacrifices, you would have given them: you do not favor burnt offerings. You, Lord, have abolished the sacrifices under the law, which cannot grant remission of sins: an external sacrifice, offered without the participation of the heart, has no meaning.
The sacrifice to God is a broken spirit; God will not despise a broken and humble heart. The sacrifice that You loved is repentance and contrition of heart; You will not despise a contrite and humble heart, O God (Russian translation).
Bless Zion, O Lord, with Your favor, and may the walls of Jerusalem be built. King David prays not only for himself, but also for his city and people, and asks the Lord to restore the walls of Jerusalem, shaken by his sin. But Zion and Jerusalem in Holy Scripture also depict the entire Church.
Then favor the sacrifice of righteousness, the offering and the burnt offering; then they will place the bullock on Your altar. The psalm ends with the image of a sacrifice to God, offered in purity of heart and righteousness; Having cleansed the soul through repentance, we will rush to God with our whole being and give Him ourselves entirely, our whole heart, our whole life - this will be our “burnt offering.”

Often people bring their young children to the temple in order to perform the sacrament of baptism because it is necessary. This ends their meeting with God. The baby grows, gets stronger, and if the family and his relatives do not visit churches, do not pray and do not observe fasts, then the child does not grow up attached to the Faith in the full sense of the word. Only when difficulties and misfortunes happen in life, serious illnesses, then people turn to God for help and support. This can happen both in youth and in adulthood, and even in old age.

The Lord is merciful, he accepts all the lost. However, Christians who are new to the knowledge of the true Faith must follow certain rules. One of these rules is the daily reading of morning and evening prayers. There are quite a lot of them, so morning prayers for beginners come down to reading a few basic rules. In churches, the rules are read in Church Slavonic, but for the convenience of beginners, the texts of the morning prayers have been translated into modern Russian.

Observance of rituals

Like any other religion, Christianity has its own rituals that must be observed

  1. Daily Prayer . Every day, morning and evening, Christians offer prayers. There are also certain rules that are read before eating.
  2. Pectoral cross. The cross in Christianity is a symbol of faith, so all believers wear pectoral cross.
  3. Veneration of icons and holy relics. In the houses of believers there are corners with icons, looking at which they perform prayer rules. In many churches and monasteries there are miraculous and myrrh-streaming icons. The incorrupt relics of saints, as a rule, are kept in monasteries and many believers come from different parts of the country to venerate them and ask for something or thank them for their help.
  4. Visiting holy places, pilgrimage. One of the rituals in Christianity is pilgrimage to holy places.
  5. Keeping fasts. Limiting yourself in various pleasures, including food and entertainment.
  6. Christian holidays . On holidays, special festive services are held in churches and monasteries; on these days there are especially many parishioners there.
  7. Spiritual mood. The most important thing in Christianity, as in any other religion, is the spiritual attitude, the willingness to open your soul and heart to God and true faith in him.

List of short morning prayers

If for some reason believers cannot visit the temple, then they should read the morning rules at home. Full list morning rules is in the prayer book, but it’s better to start with short prayers. Among them the following must be present:

  • Heavenly King
  • Trisagion
  • Mother of God
  • Having risen from sleep
  • Have mercy on me, God
  • I believe
  • God, cleanse
  • To You, Master
  • Saint Angele
  • Holy Lady
  • Calling the Saints
  • Prayer for the living and the dead.

Although morning prayers are said at the images of the house, one should not forget that one should prepare for reading them:

  1. After awakening, believers should wash themselves and put on comfortable clothes.
  2. Women are advised to tie a scarf on their heads. Although many people do not follow this rule at home, priests advise tying a scarf as a sign of humility.
  3. Abandon all sinful thoughts.
  4. It is advisable to retire so that there are no distractions.
  5. You can light a candle or lamp in front of the images.
  6. Prepare a prayer book and begin reading morning prayers.

Features of morning prayers for beginners

As mentioned above, all morning rules are collected in a prayer book, but beginners are recommended to read only a short list, gradually increasing their number. Many priests say that the number of morning prayers is actually not that important. A person's attitude is important. His readiness to “conversate with the Lord.” Sometimes even the shortest prayer of a publican: “Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me a sinner”, spoken sincerely with all your heart, will be heard faster than full set morning prayers, read “because it’s supposed to be so.”

For a deeper understanding and understanding, beginning Christians are recommended to read the rules in modern Russian. Although church shops, as a rule, sell prayer books in Church Slavonic, you can find their translations into Russian on the Internet. You can also listen to the prayers in audio recordings.

It is recommended to begin reading morning prayers with gratitude to God for the fact that the night passed peacefully and for the coming day. Having crossed yourself, you should say: “In the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen". Then you can read the publican’s prayer: "God, be merciful to me, a sinner". Its text is quite simple and understandable, but, pronounced with deep faith, it can work miracles.

After this, the so-called initial prayer is read: “Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, through the prayers of Your Most Pure Mother and all the saints, have mercy on us. Amen. Glory to Thee, our God, Glory to Thee."

Then one of the most ancient Orthodox prayers "Lord have mercy". Every Christian should know it. It is pronounced 3 times, thereby glorifying the Holy Trinity: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. In order for the Lord to bless every hour of the beginning of the day, it is recommended to say this short phrase 12 times, and to sanctify the entire life of a believer - 40 times.

In addition, the list of morning rules for beginning Christians to read includes:

  • Prayer to the Holy Spirit
  • Trisagion
  • Our Father
  • Hail Mary, Virgin Mary
  • Prayer to the Holy Trinity.

The clergy advise starting with these rules, gradually adding one prayer at a time. But in Orthodoxy there should not be a “Pharisee approach”, that is, prayers should come from the heart, and not according to the rules. It is better to say one simple rule from your heart or pray in your own words than to read a complete set of morning rules just because you need to.

Rules for visiting the temple

Anyone can pray at home in front of images, but sooner or later the understanding comes that you need to go to church. The rules for visiting the temple are quite simple:

  1. The most important thing is the mental attitude.
  2. In the morning you should wash your face and put yourself in order.
  3. Read a short prayer.
  4. You should not have breakfast. This rule does not apply to infants, sick and infirm people.
  5. Clothes for visiting the temple should be simple. Women in mandatory wear dresses or skirts below the knee, and cover the head with a scarf or scarf. Men should also pay attention to their appearance, it is better to avoid fashionable torn or frayed jeans, and also not to wear T-shirts with strange prints.
  6. Upon entering the temple, you should cross yourself 3 times and bow.
  7. In the temple, men are forbidden to wear a headdress; women, on the contrary, must have their heads covered.
  8. Before the start of the liturgy, you can go up to the icons and light candles.
  9. The liturgy begins with morning prayers.

As a rule, in almost every church there are people who like to teach beginning Christians how to do this or that according to the rules. It is very important not to pay attention to such comments and maintain a friendly attitude and calmness towards everyone around you.

All beginning Christians should remember that the Lord is omnipresent, he sees and hears everyone who turns to him with sincere faith. Many people are embarrassed to pray or visit church, citing the fact that they do not know church canons and rules, but in reality, all this is comprehended gradually. If a person sincerely believes in God, then he will come to understand how to behave correctly in church and how to read prayers.

Also, many beginning Christians say that they do not grasp the meaning of the prayers that are written in Church Slavonic, but this is quite easy to comprehend if you know the main points of the translation into modern Russian. You can even find a complete translation of morning prayers on the Internet.

Basic prayers should be gradually learned by heart. According to many believers, prayers are remembered by themselves without much effort after repeated reading. It is also important to remember that when reading the psalms you do not need to be baptized. Also on Sunday, Christmas, the Exaltation and Transfiguration do not strike prostrations. However, no one will demand strict adherence to these rules and examine believers.

So, morning prayers for beginners boil down to reading a short list of rules. In the prayer book, these rules are written in Church Slavonic, but beginners can find their translation into modern Russian for better understanding. It is not the number of prayers read that is important, but the mood with which they are said. Sometimes even the simplest and shortest prayer, said from the bottom of your heart in your own words, will be heard by God faster than a complete set of rules read because it is necessary. All church rules are comprehended by believers gradually.

To the Guardian Angel:
Holy Angel of God, guardian and patron of my soul! Always be with me, morning, evening, day and night, guide me on the path of God’s commandments and remove all temptations of evil from me. Amen.

MORNING PRAYERS:
We are children of God, and every morning we raise our first thoughts to our Father who is in heaven: we greet Him, we thank Him for a new day of life. The main idea of morning prayer is worship of God. Rising Sun awakens all living things. In this we see the way of God and glorify the Giver of life. At the same time, we come face to face with our life tasks, which are participation in the work of God. By sacrificing our labor to Him, we ask for His help and renew our sincere intention to live in unity with Him.

Appeal to glorify God:
Come, let us sing to the Lord, let us exclaim to the rock of our salvation; Let us come before His face with praise, and let us shout to Him in songs.
For the Lord is the great God and the great King over all gods.
The depths of the earth are in His hand, and the tops of the mountains are His; The sea is His, and He made it, and His hands formed the dry land.
Come, let us bow down and kneel before the face of the Lord, our Creator; for He is our God, and we are the people of His pasture and the sheep of His hand.
Ps 95(94), 1-7

Morning praise:
I praise You, my God, and love You with all my heart. I thank You for creating me, making me a Christian and saving me from death this night. I give You all my actions today - may they be pleasing to You and serve Your glory. Save me from sin and all evil. May Your grace always be with me and my loved ones. Amen.

Please have a good day:
Lord, Almighty God, You have allowed me to live to see a new day: strengthen me with Your grace. Help me today to see in every neighbor the dignity of the children of God, and to be able to show them love. Help me create an atmosphere of goodwill and joy around me. Let my thoughts and actions express Your will. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Longing for God:
God! You are my God, I have been looking for You since the early dawn; My soul thirsts for You, my flesh yearns for You in the empty, parched and waterless land, to see Your power and Your glory, as I saw You in the sanctuary: for Your mercy is better than life. My lips will praise You. So I will bless You in my life; in Your name I will lift up my hands.
How my soul is satisfied with fatness and oil, and my lips praise You with a joyful voice, when I remember You on my bed, I meditate on You in the night watches, for You are my help, and in the shadow of Your wings I will rejoice; My soul clings to You; Your right hand upholds me.
Ps 63(62), 2-9

Prayer calls for faith, hope, love and contrition:
My God, You are the infallible Truth, I believe in everything that You have revealed to us, and that the Holy Church tells us to believe. I believe in You, the only one true God in three equal and self-existent Persons: the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. I believe in Jesus Christ, the Son of God, who became man for our sake, died on the cross and rose again, who will reward each person according to his deserts - reward or punish. I wish to always live by this faith: Lord, strengthen my faith.

My God, I trust that, according to Your promise and the merits of our Savior, Jesus Christ, You, in Your goodness, will grant me eternal life and the grace necessary for me to deserve this life by the good deeds that I am obliged and willing to do. Lord, make it possible for me to rejoice in You eternal life.

My God, I love You with all my heart and above all, for You are our infinite good and our eternal happiness! I love You, God, in my neighbor - make me love You even more.

My God, I grieve with all my heart for my sins, for having committed sin, I deserve Your punishment. I grieve for them, for I have offended You, who is infinitely good and most worthy of love. With Your help, I undertake to avoid temptations in the future, so as not to offend You any more. God! Strengthen me!

Committing your work to God every day:
God, Lord and Creator of the universe, I give You all my labors today, and through them I want to express my love for You, for Your Church, for my family and the whole world. Help me to do them joyfully, as if I were participating in Your work of creation. May this work serve the sanctification of my soul and the good of other people. I accept all the suffering associated with it as participation in the cross of Jesus. O my Lord, I entrust all unemployed, poor and unhappy people to Your All-Good Heart. Saint Joseph, patron saint of all workers, pray for me and for everyone who works with me. Amen.

PRAYERS DURING THE DAY:
God is Love, He loves us - His children. Throughout the day, we want to thank God for His love for us by responding with our love. And we will be able to answer when we entrust our daily affairs, food, study, work and rest to Him in prayer.

Prayer before work:
Almighty God, may Your inspiration anticipate our deeds; Strengthen them with Your grace, so that every work we do begins in You and is completed in You. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Prayer before studying:
O Holy Spirit, sanctifying our hearts and minds, give us the desire and ability so that studying will be useful to us in earthly and eternal life. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Prayer after studying:
We thank You, Lord, for the light of teaching, so that, illuminated by it, we can always glorify You and do Your will. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Prayer of Praise:
For all the good deeds of the Lord,
For the treasures of faith and grace,
For our labor and its fruits,
For moments of firmness and for weakness,
For peace, struggle, health and illness,
For happy laughter and tears of sorrow,
For the heavy cross laid upon us,
May Jesus Christ be glorified!

Prayer before meals:
Bless us, O Lord God, and these gifts, which we will partake of in Your goodness, and grant that all people may have their daily bread. We ask You through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Prayer after eating:
We thank You, God, for all Your good deeds. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Reflection:
The prayers we say have a rich semantic content. It is useful to sometimes reflect on them in peace and quiet. By doing this, we will see that they speak about what is close to our hearts. It would be very good if we could also find guidance in them. In the end, you should make a practical decision - one, but a firm one.
Before you begin such a prayer, you need to concentrate and humble your heart before God, who abides with us and gives us His love. Ask Him to help us pray. Concluding our reflection, we must present our decision to God, thank Him for the grace of being with Him, for strengthening us and illuminating our mind. This is the simplest method of thinking.
It will be good if we add texts to our prayerful reflection Holy Scripture, psalms, prayers of the Rosary and Way of the Cross. You can use other prayers suggested in this prayer book.

Brief prayer requests:
During the day, you can also turn to God repeatedly in very short prayers, called short appeals. They can be said anywhere, almost at any time, on the way to work, and even while doing something. Anyone who finds such a prayer for himself and makes it truly his own will be able to feel the full power of its action.
My Lord and my God!
You, Lord, are good and merciful!
Lord, increase my faith!
God, Thy will be done!
God, I trust in You, let me not be ashamed!
Lord, my hope!
Have mercy on me, Lord, in my sorrows!
Guide me, O God, on Your paths!
Come, Lord Jesus!
All for the glory of God!
Remember me, Lord...

Teach me, Lord, to serve You worthily, teach me to give, regardless of the cost, to work without knowing rest; teach us to work without asking for any other reward other than confidence in the fulfillment of Your will. Amen.
St. Ignatius of Loyola

Prayer to the Blessed Virgin Mary:
ABOUT Immaculate Virgin, Mother of the true God and Mother of the Church! Mother of grace, Teacher of hidden and quiet self-sacrifice! To you, who comes out to meet us sinners, we dedicate ourselves and our love. Through Your hands we entrust to Your Son our life and work, our joys, illnesses and sorrows.
Ask our homes for the grace of love and respect for all life. Grant the same love with which You conceived the Divine Child in Your womb. ABOUT Holy Virgin Mary, Mother of gracious love, keep our families in unity and bless our children.
You are our Hope and hope; look upon us mercifully and teach us to always turn to Jesus. Teach us to rise after falling and return to Him through confession of sins in the holy sacrament of reconciliation, which gives peace to our souls. Help us return to Jesus through the sacrament of the Eucharist.
Most Holy Mother, with a humble conscience and a heart free from wickedness, we will be able to bring to all people the true joy and peace of Your Son, our Lord, who lives and reigns with God the Father and the Holy Spirit forever and ever. Amen.

EVENING PRAYERS:
During evening prayer, we thank God for the day we have lived, examine our conscience, thank God for the good and ask for forgiveness for the evil we have done. This is the best moment for family members to forgive each other for minor offenses.
Before night falls, we entrust to God everyone and everything that our hearts hurt about. We remember death and the meeting with God that awaits us, we think about His judgment and mercy; We express our faith, hope, love and contrition for sins. You can read the prayers given here, or pray in your own words, or read selected passages from the Holy Scriptures. It is recommended to join the prayer of the Church - the Liturgy of the Hours. Evening prayer of the Church (Vespers) or prayer before bed.

Evening test of conscience:
Every person who wants to develop spiritually must realize how important the daily examination of conscience is. Examination of conscience is a time of prayer, a time of encounter in which we renew our life with and in Christ day by day. It gives us the opportunity to more fully and objectively see the presence and action of God in our lives, to know His plans for us so that we can find Him in everything and everywhere - not only during the time allotted for prayer. The test of conscience is not only an analysis of the day, not only a moral assessment of our actions: our vision of life should lead us to search for an answer to the call of God, to self-determination in faith. During the nightly examination of conscience, the feelings with which one should end the day are put in order and focused: gratitude to God for grace and blessing, contrition for bad deeds and thoughts, a decision to correct one’s life, and surrendering oneself with trust in the hands of a good God.
Merciful God! I thank You with all my heart for all your blessings. today and the grace given to me. Come, O Holy Spirit, illuminate my mind, so that all the sins I have committed today will be revealed to me, and especially my main vice. Break my heart so that I sincerely grieve for my sins.
I believe, Lord, that You are the God and Father of mercy. Therefore, with humble hope, I offer my sins to You, so that You may look at my contrition and grant me forgiveness. For You are God Almighty, who whitens souls more than snow and the light of the sun. Amen.

Suggestions for examination of conscience:
PRAYER: My communication with God? The memory of His presence? Thanksgiving? Desire to live as a Christian? Petitions? Hope? Prayer for forgiveness?
WORK, STUDY, REST: Ability to manage time? Fulfilling duties? Dedication? Coming to terms with your own limitations and taking responsibility for your abilities? Struggling with laziness and difficulties? Forms of relaxation, care for a good mood?
COMMUNICATION WITH PEOPLE: Respect? Cooperation and mutual assistance? Kindness in words and deeds? Accepting reasonable offers? Attention to the concerns and suffering of others? Striving for justice? Protecting the weak?
Next we invite you to read the psalm:
The Lord is my light and my salvation: whom shall I fear?
The Lord is the strength of my life: whom shall I fear?
If evildoers, my opponents and my enemies come upon me to devour my flesh, then they themselves will stumble and fall.
Hear, O Lord, my voice with which I cry, have mercy on me and listen to me.
My heart speaks from You: “Seek My face”; and I will seek Your face, O Lord.
Hide not Your face from me; do not reject Your servant in anger.
You were my helper; do not reject me and do not forsake me, O God, my Savior!
For my father and my mother have forsaken me, but the Lord will receive me.
Teach me, O Lord, Your way and guide me on the path of righteousness, for the sake of my enemies.
But I believe that I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.
Trust in the Lord, be of good courage, and let your heart be strengthened, and trust in the Lord.
Ps 27(26), 1-2. 7-11. 13-14

Other evening prayers:
Oh God, another day of my life has passed. Every moment I lived was a gift from You: whether I worked or rested, communicated with people or was alone with myself, was happy or sad - everything was Your gift.
Thank You for everything that I have learned and experienced today. You alone know whether I was able to fulfill Your will. Forgive me for everything that I overlooked, that I forgot about, for everything that was not according to Your will. Have mercy on me, a sinner. Let me let a night's rest increase my strength so that I can live better tomorrow.
Take care of all those who sleep and those who work this night. I entrust my entire future and that of my loved ones to Your merciful care, our God and Father. Amen.

PREFACE
If I do not understand the meaning of the words, then I am a stranger to the speaker, and the speaker is a stranger to me... For when I pray in an unknown language, then although my spirit prays, my mind remains fruitless... I will begin to pray with the spirit, I will begin to pray with the mind; I will sing with the spirit, I will sing with the mind too. (1 Cor. 14.11-14.15)
To everyone who hears the word about the Kingdom and does not understand, the evil one comes and snatches away what was sown in his heart... (Matthew 13.19)
This prayer book is intended for people taking their first steps in the Church, for those who for some reason do not have the opportunity to learn and understand Church Slavonic language. It included abbreviated morning and evening rules, succession and canon for Holy Communion, as well as a reminder for Holy Communion. All this is offered in an adequate translation from Church Slavonic into Russian. The Missionary Prayer Book has passed theological and philological examination. When compiling a prayer book, realizing the impossibility of preserving divine beauty Church Slavonic poetry, the compiler was guided by the desire to most accurately convey the meaning of prayers. In the future, you, dear reader of the Lord, will need a complete prayer book, which is used by the majority of Orthodox Christians. The choice of translation was made on large quantities sources, the main of which was the book “Prayers and chants of the Orthodox prayer book with translation into Russian, explanations and notes by Nikolai Nakhimov. Kyiv: Prologue, 2003.” I would be deeply grateful for any valuable comments and suggestions.

MORNING PRAYERS

Rising from sleep, before any other activity, stand reverently, presenting yourself before the All-Seeing God, and, placing the sign of the cross on yourself, say:

In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Amen.

After this, wait a little so that all your feelings calm down and your thoughts leave everything earthly. And then say the following prayers, without haste, with heartfelt attention. Do this before beginning any prayer.

Troparion to the Most Holy Trinity
Rising after sleep, we fall at Your feet, O Good One, and we proclaim an angelic song to You, O Mighty One: “Holy, Holy, Holy are You, O God, through the prayers of the Mother of God have mercy on us.”
Glory to the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. You raised me from my bed from sleep, Lord! Enlighten my mind and heart, and open my lips to sing to You, Holy Trinity: “Holy, Holy, Holy You, O God, through the prayers of the Mother of God have mercy on us.”
And now and always and forever and ever. Amen. Suddenly the Judge will come, and everyone’s deeds will be revealed. Let us exclaim with fear at midnight: “Holy, Holy, Holy are You, O God, through the prayers of the Mother of God have mercy on us.”

Lord, have mercy. (12 times)

Glory to the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, now and always, and forever and ever. Amen.

Prayer to the Most Holy Trinity

Rising after sleep, I thank You, Holy Trinity, that by Your great mercy and long-suffering, You, God, were not angry with me, lazy and sinful, and did not stop my life in the midst of my iniquities, but showed me Your usual love for mankind, and raised me up sleeping to bring you morning prayer and glorify Your power. And now enlighten my thoughts, so that I may learn Your word, understand Your commandments and do Your will. And open my mouth to glorify You with a grateful heart and sing Your most holy name, of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, now and always and unto the ages of ages. Amen.

Prayer 1, St. Macarius the Great to God the Father

Eternal God and King of all creation, who has made me worthy to live until this hour, forgive me the sins that I committed on this day in deed, word and thought; and cleanse, Lord, my humble soul from all impurity, fleshly and spiritual. And grant me, Lord, to spend this night in peace, so that, rising from sleep, all the days of my life I will do what is pleasing to Your most holy name and defeat the enemies who attack me - carnal and incorporeal. And deliver me, Lord, from the vain thoughts and vicious desires that defile me. For Yours is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, now and always, and to the ages of ages. Amen.

Prayer 2, Saint Antiochus to Our Lord Jesus Christ

Almighty, Word of the Father, Jesus Christ! Being yourself perfect, according to Your great mercy, never leave me, Your servant, but always remain in me. Jesus, good Shepherd of Your sheep, do not give me over to the work of the serpent and do not leave me to the will of Satan, for there is in me the seed of destruction. You, Lord God, whom everyone worships, the Holy King, Jesus Christ, protect me during sleep with unfading Light, Your Holy Spirit, with which You sanctified Your disciples. Grant, O Lord, to me, Thy unworthy servant, Thy salvation on my bed: enlighten my mind with the light of understanding of Thy Holy Gospel, my soul with love for Thy Cross, my heart with the purity of Thy word, my body with Thy suffering, alien to passion, my thought Maintain your humility. And raise me up at the proper time to glorify You. For you are in highest degree glorified together with Your beginningless Father and the Most Holy Spirit forever. Amen.

Prayer 3, Rev. Ephraim the Syrian to the Holy Spirit
Lord, Heavenly King, Comforter, Spirit of truth, have mercy and have mercy on me, Your sinful servant, and forgive me, unworthy, and forgive all the sins that I have sinned before You today as a man and, moreover, not as a man, but even worse livestock Forgive my voluntary and involuntary sins, known and unknown: done out of immaturity and out of evil skill, due to hot temper and carelessness. If I have sworn by Your name, or blasphemed Him in my thoughts; or whom he reproached; or slandered someone in my anger, or saddened someone, or about what I was angry; either he lied, or slept untimely, or a beggar came to me, and I rejected him; or saddened my brother, or stirred up quarrels, or condemned someone; or became arrogant, or became proud, or became angry; or when standing in prayer, his mind strove for evil worldly thoughts, or had insidious thoughts; either he overate himself, or got drunk, or laughed madly; or thought evil; or, seeing the imaginary beauty, bowed his heart to what is outside of You; or said something obscene; or laughed at my brother’s sin, while my sins are countless; or did not care about prayer, or did something else evil that I did not remember: I did all this and even more than that. Have mercy on me, my Creator and Master, Thy careless and unworthy servant, and leave me, and forgive me my sins, and forgive me, for You are Good and Humane-loving. So that I may lie down in peace, sleep and calm down, prodigal, sinful and unhappy, and so that I may bow and sing and glorify Your venerable name, with the Father and His Only Begotten Son, now and always, and unto the ages of ages. Amen.

Prayer 4

Lord our God, everything in which I have sinned this day in word, deed and thought, You, as the Merciful and Humane One, forgive me. Give me peace and restful sleep. For You are the guardian of our souls and bodies, and we send up glory to You, the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit, now, and always, and unto the ages of ages. Amen.

Lord, give me patience, generosity and meekness. 9. Lord, plant in me the root of goodness - the fear of You in my heart. 10. Lord, deign me to love You with all my soul and thoughts and to fulfill Your will in everything. 11. Lord, protect me from evil people, and demons, and passions, and from any inappropriate deed. 12. Lord, You know what you do and what You desire - Your will be done even on me, a sinner, for You are blessed forever. Amen.
Prayer to the Blessed Virgin Mary
Merciful King, merciful Mother, most pure and blessed Mother of God Mary! Pour the mercy of Your Son and our God onto my passionate soul, and guide me with Your prayers to good deeds, so that I can live the rest of my life without sin and with Your help, O Virgin Mary, the only pure and blessed One, enter into heaven.

Angel of Christ, my holy guardian and patron of my soul and body! Kontakion to the Mother of God
Having been delivered from troubles, we, Your unworthy servants, Mother of God, sing a victorious and grateful song to You, the Supreme Commander. You, as having invincible power, free us from all troubles, so that we cry to You: Rejoice, Bride, not involved in marriage!
Glorious Eternal Virgin, Mother of Christ God, bring our prayer to Thy Son and our God, may He save our souls through Thy prayers.
I place all my hope in You, Mother of God, keep me under Your protection.
Enlighten my eyes, O Christ God, so that I do not fall asleep in the sleep of death, so that my enemy does not say: I have defeated him.

Everyday confession of sins, pronounced in private

I confess to You, my Lord God and Creator, in the One Holy Trinity, glorified and worshiped, Father and Son and Holy Spirit, all my sins that I have committed in all the days of my life, and at every hour, and at the present time, by deed, in word, thought, sight, hearing, smell, taste, touch and all my feelings, mental and physical, with which I have angered You, my God and Creator, and offended my neighbor. When you go to bed, sign yourself with a cross and say prayer to the Holy Cross:
May God rise again, and may His enemies be scattered, and may all who hate Him flee from His Face. As the smoke disappears, so let them disappear. As wax melts from fire, so may demons perish at the sight of lovers of God, and overshadowing themselves sign of the cross and saying with joy: “Rejoice, most revered and life-giving Cross The Lord, driving away demons by the power of our Lord Jesus Christ crucified on you, who descended into hell and destroyed the power of the devil and gave us you, His venerable Cross, to drive away every enemy." O venerable and life-giving Cross of the Lord! Help me with the Holy Lady, the Virgin Mother of God , and with all the saints forever.

Or briefly:

Protect me, Lord, by the power of Your venerable and life-giving Cross, and save me from all evil.

Psalm 50

Have mercy on me, O God, according to Your great mercy, and according to the abundance of Your compassion, blot out my iniquities. Wash me often from my iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin. For I am aware of my iniquities, and my sin is always before me. I have sinned against You, the One, and have done what is evil in Your sight, so that You are righteous in Your judgment and pure in Your judgment. Behold, I was conceived in iniquity, and my mother gave birth to me in sin. But, behold, You loved righteousness and revealed to me the hidden secret of Your wisdom. Sprinkle me with hyssop, and I will be clean; wash me and I will whiter than snow. Let me hear joy and gladness, and the broken bones will rejoice. Turn Your face away from my sins and blot out all my iniquities. Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me. Do not cast me away from Your presence and do not take Your Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of hope for salvation by You and strengthen me with the sovereign Spirit. I will teach the wicked Your ways, and the wicked will turn to You. Deliver me from the shedding of blood, O God, God of my salvation, and my tongue will praise Your righteousness. God! Open my mouth, and my mouth will declare Your praise: for You do not desire sacrifice, I would give it; You do not favor burnt offerings. A sacrifice to God is a contrite spirit; You will not reject a contrite and humble heart, O God. Bless Zion with Your favor, O Lord, and may the walls of Jerusalem be erected. Then the sacrifices of righteousness, the wave offerings and the burnt offerings will be acceptable to You; Then they will place bullocks on Your altar.

Song 1
Irmos: Come, people, let us sing a song to Christ God, who divided the sea and led the people freed by Him from the slavery of Egypt; for He is glorified.

May Your Holy Body and Your precious Blood, Merciful Lord, be the bread of eternal life for me, for healing from many and various diseases.

Desecrated by obscene deeds, I, unfortunate one, am unworthy, O Christ, of the communion of Your most pure Body and Divine Blood: honor me with it.

Glory to the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, now and always, and forever and ever. Amen.

Blessed Bride of God, fertile land, which produced the uncultivated and world-saving Ear! Make me worthy to be saved by taking Him as food.

Song 3

Irmos: Having established me on the rock of faith, You opened my mouth against my enemies, for my spirit rejoiced when I began to sing: “There is no one holy like our God, and there is no one more righteous than You, Lord!”

Chorus: Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me. (Bow)

Give me, Christ, drops of tears that cleanse the impurity of my heart, so that, having cleared my conscience, with faith and fear, Master, I would begin to partake of Your divine Gifts.

Chorus: Do not cast me away from Your presence and do not take Your Holy Spirit from me. (Bow)

May Thy most pure Body and Divine Blood be for me, O Lover of Mankind, for forgiveness of sins, for communion with the Holy Spirit and for eternal life, and for liberation from suffering and sorrow.

Glory to the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, now and always, and forever and ever. Amen.

Most Holy Table of the Bread of Life, which came from above by mercy and to the world new life giver, make me, unworthy, worthy to taste Him with fear and be alive.

Song 4
Irmos: You came from the Virgin, neither an intercessor nor a messenger, but the Lord Himself in the flesh, and you saved all of me, man. Therefore I cry to You: “Glory to Your power, O Lord!”

Chorus: Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me. (Bow)

Having become incarnate for us, O most merciful Lord, You desired to be slain like a sheep for the sins of men. Therefore, I pray to You: cleanse my sins too.

Chorus: Do not cast me away from Your presence and do not take Your Holy Spirit from me. (Bow)

Heal the wounds of my soul, Lord, and sanctify me entirely, and, O Lord, grant me, a repentant one, to partake of Your mystical Divine Supper.

Glory to the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, now and always, and forever and ever. Amen.

Compassionate the One born of You to me, too, Lady, and keep me, Your servant, pure and without blemish, so that I may be sanctified by receiving a spiritual treasure.

Song 5
Irmos: You are the Giver of light and the Creator of times, Lord! Teach us to walk in the light of Your commandments, because besides You, we do not recognize any other god.

Chorus: Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me. (Bow)

As You said, O Christ, so let it be for me, Your insignificant servant: abide in me, as You promised; for here I eat Your Divine Body and drink Your Blood.

Chorus: Do not cast me away from Your presence and do not take Your Holy Spirit from me. (Bow)

Word of God and God! May the burning coal of Your Body be for me, the darkened one, to enlighten me, and May Your Blood be for the cleansing of my desecrated soul.

Glory to the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, now and always, and forever and ever. Amen.

Mary, Mother of God, sacred temple of fragrance! Through Your prayers, make me a chosen vessel, so that I may partake of the holy things of Your Son.

Song 6

Irmos: Being in the abyss of sins, I call upon the incomprehensible abyss of Your mercy: “From destruction, O God, save me!”

Chorus: Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me. (Bow)

Sanctify my mind, soul and heart, O Savior, as well as my body, and deign, O Master, to proceed, without being condemned, to Terrible Secrets.

Chorus: Do not cast me away from Your presence and do not take Your Holy Spirit from me. (Bow)

May I be freed from suffering and may I receive an increase in Thy grace and strengthening of life through the communion of the saints, Christ, of Thy Mysteries.

Glory to the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, now and always, and forever and ever. Amen.

God, Holy Word God! Through the prayers of Your holy Mother, sanctify me entirely, now approaching Your Divine mysteries.

Kontakion: Do not deprive me of the opportunity, Christ, to now accept bread - Your Body and Divine Blood: may the communion of Your most pure and terrible Mysteries not be a condemnation for me, the unfortunate one, Master, but may it be for me eternal and immortal life.

Song 7

Irmos: The wise children did not bow to the golden image, but they themselves went into the flames and mocked the pagan gods. In the midst of the flames they cried out, and an angel sprinkled them with dew, saying: “The prayer of your lips is heard.”

Chorus: Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me. (Bow)

May the communion of Your immortal Mysteries, Christ, now be a source of blessings for me: light, life, dispassion, a means to success in the highest perfection and to its multiplication, the only Good One, so that I glorify You.

Chorus: Do not cast me away from Your presence and do not take Your Holy Spirit from me. (Bow)

Approaching now with trepidation, love and reverence Your immortal and divine Mysteries, may I, Lover of Mankind, be delivered from suffering and enemies, from troubles and all sorrow. And deign me to sing to You: “Blessed are You, O Lord, God of our fathers!”

Glory to the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, now and always, and forever and ever. Amen.

She gave birth to the Savior Christ incomprehensibly, blessed by God! I pray to You now, Thy servant, pure - unclean: who is now preparing to begin the most pure Mysteries, cleanse me entirely from the impurity of flesh and spirit.

Song 8
Irmos: Sing into the fiery furnace of the Jewish youths who descended and turned the flame into dew, His creations as the Lord and exalt throughout all ages.

Chorus: Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me. (Bow)

Now grant me, the perishing one, Christ, to become a participant in the Heavenly, terrible and holy Mysteries and Your Divine Last Supper, O God, my Savior!

Chorus: Do not cast me away from Your presence and do not take Your Holy Spirit from me. (Bow)

Having resorted to Your mercy, O Most Gracious One, I cry out to You with fear: “Abide in me, Savior, and let me abide in You, as You have said.” For behold, trusting in Your mercy, I eat Your body and drink Your blood.

Glory to the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, now and always, and forever and ever. Amen.

I tremble, accepting the fire, so as not to be burned like wax and like grass. O terrible mystery! O mercy of God! How do I, dust, partake of the divine Body and Blood and become immortal?

Song 9

Irmos: The Son of the beginningless Parent, God and Lord, incarnate from the Virgin, appeared to us to enlighten those in darkness and to gather the scattered. Therefore, we glorify the Mother of God, worthy of universal praise.

Chorus: Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me. (Bow)

Taste and see: Christ, the Good Lord, who for our sake once became like us and once offered Himself as a sacrifice to His Father, has since been constantly slain, sanctifying those who receive communion.

Chorus: Do not cast me away from Your presence and do not take Your Holy Spirit from me. (Bow)

Through the communion of the sacred Mysteries, may I be sanctified in soul and body, Master, may I be enlightened, may I be saved, may I become Your house, having You, O most merciful Benefactor, living in me with the Father and the Spirit.

Chorus: Restore to me the joy of hope for salvation through You and strengthen me with the sovereign Spirit. (Bow)
May Your Body and Most Precious Blood be to me, my Savior, a fire that burns the forest of sin and burns up the thorns of passions, a light that enlightens me all to worship Your Divinity.

Glory to the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, now and always, and forever and ever. Amen.

God became incarnate from Your pure blood. Therefore, all nations praise You, Lady, and hosts of spirits glorify, because through You they clearly saw the Lord of the universe in human nature.

End of prayers
It is truly worthy to glorify You as the Mother of God, always Blessed and Immaculate, and the Mother of our God. We magnify You as the true Mother of God, who gave birth without illness to God the Word, worthy of greater honor than the Cherubim, and incomparably more glorious than the Seraphim.

Glory to the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, now and always, and forever and ever. Amen.

Lord, have mercy. (Thrice)

Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, prayers for the sake of Your Most Pure Mother, our reverend and God-bearing fathers and all the saints, have mercy on us. Amen.
