What is the best way to upgrade the USSR branch in war thunder (tanks). initial stage and tips for beginners

Since the tanks in the game are made in accordance with historical standards, of course each tank has its own characteristics. The best tanks The game is presented by nation and divided by efficiency. With the help of this article, you will be able to determine which tanks of the War Thunder nation are better for playing in a particular style.

From the very beginning American tanks- this is terrible for beginners. Weak penetration, weak protection, the only plus is the increased number of crew, which at least somehow allows you to survive.

First good tank M5A1 Stuart (light). High speed of movement, good maneuvering and rate of fire allow you to feel good against equal opponents. However, he has almost no armor; you need to play skillfully and finish off your enemies.

M4A1 (A3) Sherman (medium) is a good medium tank in all respects. Normal armor is only on the tower, so only substitute it. They have a wide range of vertical aiming angles, which allows you to hide in the folds of the terrain.

M26 Pershing (medium) is a very powerful vehicle that can destroy tanks with the first hit (in combination with chambered tanks). Only the engine and transmission are vulnerable, so do not expose them to attack.

M46 Patton (medium) – one of the best medium tanks. Excellent gun and equipment. Has unique armor with excellent angles tilt, wide spectrum elevation angles and decent speed.

Soviet tanks have good data from the very beginning and are easy to control. But you can still highlight the best cars.

T-50 (light) – a very fast tank, with good mobility and strong armor (as for a light tank). The only bad thing is that the weapon hardly penetrates enemies in the forehead, but due to its speed it easily penetrates into the rear.

T-34-85 (medium) – a good medium with a strong gun that has a fairly low reload time. For its rating - one of the best.

SU-100 (self-propelled guns) – self-propelled guns are never included in ratings, but this is an exception. Incredibly powerful weapon good speed and maneuverability.

T-54 (medium) - presented in three samples, each of which is slightly better than the previous one. High firepower and reload speed. Increased quantity armor and a streamlined turret gives it good survivability.

IS-4 (heavy) is the only heavy tank that can be tanked in the fifth era. Up close it immediately turns into a sieve. But at medium and long distances it’s quite good. Basically, only the gun, the lower armor plate and the forehead are vulnerable.

German tanks, like airplanes, are “average” in everything except their weapons—they have excellent weapons. Of course, the initial cars are still wunderwaffles that skid at every careless turn...

Panzerkampfwagen III (medium, in the game Pz. Kpfw III) is a good weapon, all the necessary ammunition is available (subcaliber and AP). Strong penetration at medium and close distances. Protective screen, which protects well from enemy attacks.

Panther D (medium) – an extremely excellent gun, excellent armor and streamlining, great mobility. Although the Panther D does not have a sub-caliber, its cannon penetrates all tanks at once.

Pz.Kpfw. Panther II (medium) is one of the best medium tanks. Although the tank does not have much armor, it is very mobile and has a wonderful weapon that often destroys enemies with the first shot. The gun has all the necessary types of shells (subcaliber, AP and cumulative) and fast reloading.

Below we will present the branches of tank development for each country:

German tank development tree (German branch development of ground vehicles includes lines of light, medium, heavy armored vehicles, closed and open self-propelled guns and self-propelled guns). As an exception, there are two "paper" tanks that were never built in iron: Panther II and Tiger II (105 mm).
Playing on the Germans is very comfortable, there are a lot of great cars. The best BR for a tank arcade are 2.0, 3.7, 4.3 (grooves-4), 6.7, 8.0. The top-end Leopard 2A4 is also good.

US land development tree(the development branch of American tanks consists of the LT, ST, PT, TT, ZU lines).
Americans are not recommended for leveling. The armored vehicles are not bad, but the combat ratings are too high, which makes the game a misery. BR 4.7 (M6A1 + M18) and 6.7 (T29 + T34) are relatively good. Only Abrams in the top bends.

As expected, mainly Stuarts and Shermans, a branch of turret-mounted tanks: M8, M18 Black cat, M10 Wolverine, M36 Slugger, and tanks based on half-track armored personnel carriers, starting with the Diamond T (Autocar) M3 75 mm GMC. The top heavyweights will be the Super Heavy Tank T28 and Gun Motor Carriage T95.

It is interesting to trace the transformation of American STs from M2 through M3 to M4 Sherman. The only 37mm cannon turned out to be not even funny for the average peasant, so the redundant machine guns were replaced with a 75mm cannon in the sponson. This decision was also unsuccessful, and the 75mm gun was moved to a new turret, replacing the unnecessary 37mm. As a result, we got a decent middle peasant - Sherman. Then in the ST branch there are Pershings (including M26E1 and T26E4 Super Pershing), Pattons and M60.
Rank 6 - Main Battle Tank MBT-70 and Abrams.

At the same time, the LT design immediately turned out to be successful, and the Stuart M5 differs from the M3 and M2 mainly in the strengthening of its armor. The line is crowned with the LT M41 Walker Bulldog, T92 and Gun Launcher AR/AAV M551 Sheridan.

There are T34 Sherman Calliope and M26 T99 multiple launch rocket systems.
Anti-aircraft guns: M13, M16, M15, M19, M42 Duster, M163 Vulcan; amphibian LVT(A)-1.
M50 Ontos.

Great Britain land development branch
The British are not recommended for leveling, since most tanks only have solid AP shells (with low armor protection). The only good arcade setup is on BR 3.0, but it is often balanced against 3.7, popular among the Soviets and Germans.

Japanese land development branch(Japanese ground tree)
The disadvantage of low-level Japanese is that the turret turns slowly, and top tanks do not have good armor. In addition, due to the small amount of equipment, it is difficult to assemble a full-fledged setup for an arcade game. Currently available good set only for BR 2.0: Ho-I + Chi-Ha Kai + Ta-Se.

China's upgrade branches are mainly foreign models of armored vehicles (Soviet, British and American supplies, Japanese trophies, clones of USSR tanks). The Chinese land development tree is only available on Chinese servers that have no connection with the rest of the world. There is also an aviation tree there. Although you can register and play there, the high ping interferes ( for a long time response) and incomprehensible hieroglyphs. Fights with players from the RU (Russia), EU (Europe), US (USA) clusters are impossible.

How many tanks are there in Warthunder? Development branches of WT armored vehicles 2018-2019 with BR (all ranks of all countries with indication of combat rating)
In the future, more new tanks, self-propelled guns and armored vehicles will be added to “Tundra”, including independent ground research trees for other nations. The best armored vehicles.

Correctly “Vor Thunder”, not “Var Thunder” (Vorthander and not Varthander varsander) ;-)

Every player who just starts playing immediately thinks about how to quickly level up the branch and reach the level of serious tanks. This is especially true for the USSR branch, which initially invites the player to play with tanks that only advanced historians have heard of, and such legends as the T-34, KV-2, IS-3 and others are so far away that it seems possible to achieve them in just a few months of play. In reality, this is not the case, because despite the fact that developing the USSR branch is somewhat more difficult and slower than the branches of other countries, following a certain technology, it will not be difficult to do it quickly enough. Thus, when active actions In 2-4 weeks you will be able to upgrade all the branches of tanks that interest you and reach the desired level V.

In this guide, we will consider leveling up without purchasing any premium tanks, as well as investing real money to purchase research points. However, the guide is intended for beginners, so in the first sections of the article we will look at obtaining a premium tank, which is given for completing training missions.

Let's start a war

It’s worth noting right away that the development of the USSR branch is much faster for those people who initially started playing for this country. If you initially chose some other country, and only then decided to fight with domestic tanks, then in this case you are initially given the T-26, which could be called the worst tank with a combat rating of 1.0-1.3 until, of course, they introduced American tanks. Driving the T-26, you can immediately notice that it is an incredibly slow and clumsy tank, which takes a very long time to accelerate, but at the same time instantly loses its speed at the slightest attempt to change the trajectory. The only advantage of the T-26 is that it is capable of destroying the enemy with a single shot. Considering the characteristics of the tank, the only relevant solution for you is to simply look for a point on each individual map from which you can conduct targeted fire, like in a shooting gallery.

The slowness of leveling up the branch for people who initially started for other countries is manifested in the fact that they do not receive the premium T-26, for activity on which the player receives much more funds and research points compared to standard tanks.

The main tactics of action are based on collecting the most effective set of equipment for a certain combat rating and moving to new branches only after mastering the required set. After all, the most common mistake made by beginners is to develop a certain branch as quickly as possible to get the desired tank.

Many players believe that battles with new tanks will open only after the player starts driving Tier II tanks, but in reality, War Thunder has been using the technology of the so-called “battle rating” for quite a long time, when the balancer selects opponents not in accordance with level of a certain equipment, but in accordance with its combat rating. Thus, for example, a common mistake of players is the desire to quickly get on the T-34 and try it out in action, but in fact, having only one T-34, and with it taking into battle only the T-50 and BT- 7, the player will be disappointed, because he will have to fight with people who have much more effective and advanced technology, equal to the combat rating of the T-34.

So, our initial rating is 1.0-1.3. After completing the training, we spend eagles to purchase a bonus badge for a premium T-26 so that the tank begins to earn the maximum it is capable of. We put the BT-7 first for development, since it is the fastest and most maneuverable tank in this category. Those people who simply cannot stand still and are tearing their hair out trying to control the clumsy T-26 will perceive the BT-7 as a gift from heaven. Enormous speed, almost instant acceleration, maneuverability and almost complete absence loss of speed when turning. A more powerful gun compared to the T-26 makes this tank undoubtedly one of the strongest, if not the most relevant in its combat rating. After you upgrade this tank, put it into battle and develop its maneuverability.

Now you have BT-7, premium and regular T-26 in your arsenal. We always take the BT-7 first in battles, no matter how much we want to leave it for last. Taking advantage of the speed advantages of this combat vehicle, always try to capture key points first, as they represent a very decent bonus to experience. The faster you arrive at a point, the greater the chances that you will capture it and the fewer allies you will have with whom you will have to share your experience. It is best not to go with the general crowd to the nearest point, but to choose those that few people are going to immediately capture, but which the enemy will not capture. The ideal option, which is very relevant in the early stages of the game, is to change the resurrection point. It often happens that changing the resurrection point even allows you to quickly capture those points that, in theory, your opponent should have captured, and this not only gives you a decent amount of experience, but is also a serious help for the victory of your team, as well as automatically delivers to you large number goals for which you can gain more experience. The effect of surprise, which is especially common among beginners, guarantees that your ambush will be successful.

After you have upgraded the BT-7, we begin to spend research points on opening the T-60. Most likely, you will immediately be able to notice how much faster the T-60 is pumped up compared to how the BT-7 was pumped up, especially if you purchased a premium account, because this happens in just a couple of successful fights. Having upgraded the T-60, do not rush to put it in the front ranks, initially it is just a nightmare tank that practically cannot penetrate the enemy’s armor. Having an incredible rate of fire and magazine capacity, this tank simply has extremely low armor penetration, so its shots are more like trying to break through a wall. However, having upgraded armor-piercing cartridges, which significantly increase the armor penetration of this tank, it simply becomes a real death machine, as a result of which it is definitely worth upgrading. At first, you may have to try to capture points on this tank, because otherwise it will be very difficult to upgrade it. After you have upgraded to armor-piercing cartridges, the most interesting thing begins - the beginning of pumping up the equipment of the next levels.

We begin to exterminate

Finally, you have assembled your initial leveling kit:

  • BT-7;
  • Premium T-26;
  • T-60.

You should select them in battle exactly in the sequence described above, because each tank has its own purpose and is taken to fulfill a specific purpose, so it is not recommended to violate technology.

At the beginning of any battle, we take the BT-7 as standard, which serves as a means for us to effectively capture enemy points. Do not forget that you are not playing alone and must not achieve personal goals, but do everything to ensure that your team wins. Often players don’t think about this and try to perceive War Thunder as an interesting shooting gallery with nice picture, forgetting that a victory gives much more resources and experience compared to what a player can get in case of a loss, even when he is very active on the battlefield. Thus, capturing an enemy point on a BT-7 is a completely feasible task. Considering that your allies will rush in a crowd to the nearest point to the place of their resurrection, the initial score will be 2:0, and this is a very significant advantage. If you are a skilled player, be sure that in this way you will be able to win more than one battle almost on your own, and this will not remain forgotten, because the person who is in first place in the battle rating and has a gap of 1000 or even more points from second place is sure to will be remembered by the players. Having initially such a situation, almost all battles will take place with your team dominating 2:1 or 3:0 throughout the entire battle. Unfortunately, the balancer sometimes selects not the most skillful players and the scales, even in the most successful situation, can tip towards the enemy. But you always need to be mentally prepared for such moments and not get upset, because you will get your maximum with the exception of the bonus for winning, and this is also a lot.

After the BT-7 is destroyed, we take the T-26. There are quite a lot of targets, the gun is powerful. We try to go where there is a real opportunity to capture a point with a minimum of allies. If there are no such opportunities, we simply defend our point. On this tank you should get the maximum possible, because it is for killing opponents on it that you will receive the greatest reward. Considering the slowness of the tank and the almost complete unsuitability of fighting back-to-back, try to take some kind of sniper point when the targets are approximately 0.2-0.5 km away from you. The ideal option is to defend a point that no one is defending. Firstly, you will get more frags, since none of the allies are in the way, and the enemies, seeing the main forces of your team at another point, simply will not expect an ambush. The main thing is to wisely choose the point from which you should always see your opponents first. However, if possible, do not choose points from which the opponents leaving will have their backs turned to you, since it is much better to shoot at the sides due to large selection vulnerable points. By shooting at the sides, even missing a certain vulnerable point, you can easily accidentally hit another, which can also be lethal.

T-60 is chosen third. This is the main fighting machine, which, when fully upgraded, is ideal for destroying enemy tanks at its combat rating, as it has a destructive weapon in terms of power/rate of fire ratio, and also has the ability to deliver an artillery strike, which is simply a killer combination. At the same time, the massive extermination of opponents gives us access to aircraft, which further increases the victory counter. Choosing this tank in the last stages of the game will allow you not to lose the effectiveness of scoring points in battle, and your opponents will be weaker, since they often act in reverse tactics, initially choosing a stronger vehicle and ending with a weak one.

The T-60 is not just a destructive vehicle, it is also the most undemanding tank, because with a rate of fire of 800 rounds per minute and a large ammunition load, you can simply hold down the shot button and aim at the enemy tank until it is destroyed. Be careful though, once the magazine runs out you'll have to wait a very long time for it to recharge, so always expect to have to hide. Do not fight in open areas and always make sure that, after firing a full magazine, regardless of the result, drive your tank into some kind of shelter, from where it will be difficult to get it. You will have to wait a long time.

This way, you can quickly move to new stages of development and get closer to the treasured technology that you so wanted to control.

“Probably many who are interested in the development of the WT project, and in particular the ground forces, thought about what the development branches of the represented countries might look like.
(in the game menu you can even see a switch between military branches, which doesn’t work yet)

I took the liberty (impudence) to place various equipment using the example of the two most prominent representatives of the ground forces of that time, namely the USSR and Germany.

What technique is used?
Only mechanized serial production vehicles that took part (fought) in the Second World War and the Korean War.
Light, medium, heavy tanks, as well as self-propelled guns (tank destroyers, anti-tank and assault guns), self-propelled howitzers, anti-aircraft guns and armored vehicles.

A premium line of equipment for each country has also been added.

What guided me in balancing the levels?
Having reviewed the current aircraft branches many times, I took two principles by which I placed equipment at one level or another.
Firstly, I relied on the real date of appearance, after which I balanced the car in accordance with its characteristics and influence on the course of the war.
Perhaps many points will seem controversial to you, if you think so, I will be glad to hear constructive criticism.

Light tanks, armored vehicles, as well as self-propelled guns are set according to combat effectiveness (without taking into account the date of appearance), this was done specifically to lower them to low levels in order to increase their relevance.
The same applies to self-propelled artillery.

Pricing policy.
Actually, comrade Bracker helped me with the prices for equipment (for which I thank him), they are set on the basis of current aircraft prices average price unit per level." - Mr 13
