The 800th anniversary of Moscow was celebrated more extensively and was more memorable. In 1947, Stalin ordered the celebration of Capital Day in early September. Then, for the anniversary, a medal “In memory of the 800th anniversary of Moscow” was minted. The celebration took place on September 7.
