Statements by famous people about honor and dishonor. Quotes about honor and dishonor

There is very little left until the final essay. We continue to prepare with the guys.

Today I present to your attention materials for the “Honor and Dishonor” direction, selected by me and my students.

In order not to repeat myself, I do not offer vocabulary lists that define the concepts themselves, nor many formulations of topics that are on many sites created to help eleventh-graders - I simply publish statements (proverbs, aphorisms) on the topic. Everyone can use them at their own discretion: as an epigraph, for an introduction or conclusion, a bridge between parts of an essay.

Perhaps someone will find our selection of poems about honor and dishonor useful.

Parable

Water, Wind, Fire and Honor

Water, Wind, Fire and Honor met , became friends, and it occurred to them to take a walk around the world. They walked on the ground for a long time, got tired and decided to rest.

“There is a flame burning under this mountain, I will unite with it,” said Fire. - Look for me there.

“Reeds grow along the shores of this lake,” said the Wind. - Look for me there.

“There’s a spring on that slope over there.” “I will merge with him,” said Water. - Look for me there.

Honor directed eyes to the sky and remained silent.

- How can we find you? – the Wind asked Honor.

“It’s no use,” said Honor. “Anyone who leaves me will never find their way back.”

HONOR TRUE AND FALSE

I don't like definitions and am often not ready for them. But I can point out some differences between conscience and honor.

There is one significant difference between conscience and honor. Conscience always comes from the depths of the soul, and by conscience one is purified to one degree or another. Conscience is gnawing. Conscience is never false. It can be muted or too exaggerated (extremely rare). But ideas about honor can be completely false, and these false ideas cause enormous damage to society. I mean what is called “uniform honor.” We have lost such a phenomenon, unusual for our society, as the concept of noble honor, but the “honor of the uniform” remains a heavy burden. It was as if the man had died, and only the uniform remained, from which the orders had been removed. And inside which a conscientious heart no longer beats.

"The honor of the uniform" forces managers defend false or flawed projects, insist on the continuation of obviously unsuccessful construction projects, fight with societies protecting monuments (“our construction is more important”), etc. Many examples of such defense of “uniform honor” can be given.

True honor is always in accordance with conscience. False honor is a mirage in the desert, in the moral desert of the human (or rather, “bureaucratic”) soul.

Poems about honor and dishonor

***
Samuel Marshak

Gold can't buy honor.
An honest man will not yield to honor.
He needs honor like light.

Glad to sell it to the dishonest...
But, as everyone knows,
The dishonest have no honor.

HonorI have

Otar Chiladze

“I have the honor” - two short words -
Threw my age out of the vocabulary...
The gun is loaded. Everything is ready.
And a man stepped towards the barrier...

And now it will be settled differently:
There is a bottle of cognac on the table...
What do we care about boyish eccentricities?
Duelists of the Ensk regiment.

The bed of the Black River has dried up,
You can't see the mountain due to the fog.
It will be easier for us to live without these words,
But it will be harder to die.

What to do? Time will dictate
New convenient words.
A black wind blows from the Black River,
Like Mashuk, his head is turning grey.

I will bring my enemy closer, I will abandon my friend,
I’ll explain my feelings to my unloved one.
I'm not afraid of a vicious circle,
I'm afraid of the new vocabulary.

Like a young lieutenant, growing cold
From the mockery of a secret enemy,
One day I will shout: “I have the honor,”
Confusing years and centuries.

Honor

Nikolay Glazkov

Take care of your honor from a young age! -
That's a fair word.
It happened many times
It's said where it needs to be!..

But even in mature years
Your honor is not nonsense,
And her - this is what we're talking about -
You should also take care!

And in old age
Honor is more valuable than honor:
Life is meaningful if there is
Honor preserved!

What can lead a person to commit a dishonest act? Throughout our lives many years There is a fierce struggle between such concepts as honor and dishonor. Mercy, compassion, willingness to give his life for justice, honesty and sincerity - these are the moral qualities that relate to the concept of honor. But why is not everyone able to live according to the laws of morality? Why do we people so often allow ourselves to humiliate, deceive, and be rude to other people who gave us the right to do this?

I think that the reason for committing dishonest acts may be a lack of understanding of loved ones, fear for one’s life, or perhaps a desire to earn authority. Big role Family plays a role in our lives; it is among our family and friends that we form ourselves as individuals. In childhood, we gain our first understanding of what good and evil, love and hatred, respect and inhumanity are. But throughout our lives, many of us make mistakes and choose the wrong path of lies and hypocrisy.

My reasoning is easy to confirm with examples from domestic and world literature, because many writers were very concerned about the problem of the moral decline of humanity.

As an example, I would like to take I.S. Turgenev’s work “The Contented Man.” Before us is an example of a real liar and hypocrite. The author's task is to expose human vices through irony. Neither conscience, nor pity, nor mercy are inherent in this person. It costs him absolutely nothing to deceive, betray, or frame a person; he can calmly continue to live without feeling the pangs of conscience. We understand that there will be many more times when this promising young man will show his true colors through his dastardly deeds.

Also, as an argument, I would like to cite the works of Charles Baudelaire “The Counterfeit Coin”. This story teaches us that even in the most noble deeds there is sometimes hidden deception. A rich man gave a counterfeit coin to a beggar, he watched and laughed at how the unfortunate man sincerely rejoiced at the counterfeit. To others, he seemed generous and kind, since no one else knew about the deception except him. But there is a price to pay for dishonor, and the price may be too high. We see that main character he lost his honor, he crossed the line that leads into the abyss. It is very easy to lose your honor, as well as the trust of others. It is terribly mean and inhumane to do this to those who really need your help.

In conclusion, I want to say that we and only we are the arbiters of our destinies. Our future depends only on ourselves. After all, life is an eternal search for oneself, which means every day we must fight for our truth, and then nothing can lead us to a dishonorable act.

Effective preparation for the Unified State Exam (all subjects) -

Essay on the topic "Honor and dishonor" can be revealed not only through a duel, which is mentioned in many works of literature. But also through... I feel like I’m now touching on a sensitive topic about the moral behavior of the female sex and the loss of “treasure” (as it is written about Sonechka Marmeladova’s virginity in the novel F. M. Dostoevsky "Crime and Punishment"). Yes and with modern world it is very easy to connect the affairs of past days.

To write an essay on this thematic area of honor and dishonor, you can use only chapters 2 and 3 from the first part of the novel F. M. Dostoevsky "Crime and Punishment". You should read or re-read two chapters if you decide to explore this topic of “the honor and dishonor of a girl.” By the way, the novel has only 6 parts + an epilogue.

Quotes suitable for this topic in fully reveal what I want to say now.

"Honor cannot be taken away, it can be lost."(A.P. Chekhov)

"He who is not ready to die for his own honor will find dishonor."(B. Pascal)

"My honor is my life; both grow from the same root. Take away my honor and my life will come to an end."(W. Shakespeare)

“A girl’s honor is all her wealth, it is more valuable than any inheritance.”(W. Shakespeare)

“The opposite of honor is dishonor, or shame, which consists in the bad opinion and contempt of others.”(B. Mandeville)

In the second chapter we are told about Sonechka Marmeladova, who is forced to lose her honor. Her stepmother and circumstances force her to do this.

Dialogue between the stepmother and Sonechka from the words of Marmeladov (page 18 in my book):

“Katerina Ivanovna says: “You, they say, live with us, you parasite, you eat and drink, and take advantage of the warmth,” and what are you drinking and eating here, when even the children haven’t seen the crust for three days!... Sonya says : “Well, Katerina Ivanovna, should I really do such a thing?”... “Well,” Katerina Ivanovna answers, laughing, “why should I take care of it? Eco treasure!""

After the loss of the treasure, dishonor was not long in coming. There is no point in retelling the entire text, since it can be read quickly.

In the third chapter, in contrast to Sonechka’s story, we are shown how Mr. Svidrigailov inclines Dunya Raskolnikova (the main character’s sister) to such dishonor. And even when she remained adamant, human rumor turned everything upside down. It shows very well how they dealt with girls who lost their honor. Right up to the point where they smear tar on the gates.

Nowadays, all this has lost its meaning. And no one will go to decorate the gate or door. But there are people like Sonechka Marmeladova, who sold the treasure for 30 rubles (just like 30 pieces of silver from Judas, who betrayed Jesus Christ).

Remember the scandal with the sale of a girl's virginity in United Arab Emirates? The news covered all this in detail. And then you think, is there a concept of honor and dishonor in the minds of these girls? And it seems that it’s not at all anymore. What pushes them to do all this?

Comfortable and beautiful life, gadgets...

If we continue in this direction, we can write quite a lot and express our own opinion on this matter. Your opinion may be different from mine!

Yes, and this topic is very good check morality and social activity of the younger generation. Do they watch the news and communicate with their parents about honor and dishonor in the modern world?

How will they react to modern dishonor and will they support the public outcry that arose in their time.

Dignity is precisely what elevates a person most, what gives his activities, all his aspirations the highest nobility...
What the average person wants is to live and reproduce...an animal also wants...The feeling of one’s human dignity, freedom, only needs to be awakened in the hearts of these people. Only this feeling, which, together with the Greeks, left the world, and under Christianity dissolved in the deceptive haze of the kingdom of heaven, can again make society a union of people united in the name of their highest goals...
