An excellent New Year's decoration for a Christmas tree or room - a three-dimensional star made of paper. The star looks gorgeous, and it’s not at all difficult to make.
What will you need for work?
- Colored cardboard or white, depending on what color the star is needed;
- Scissors, glue. Any stationery material, such as PVA or glue stick, adheres well. But when connecting two ready-made parts of a star, for reliability, you can use Moment glue or a glue gun.
How to make a three-dimensional star out of paper?
Cut two identical squares from cardboard. When determining the size, you need to be guided by the square itself; what its size is, so will the star, since the corners of the square correspond to its rays.
Fold one square in half, corner to corner. Straighten and fold in half again, but this time the second corner to the opposite corner.
You should end up with two cross folds on the square.
You will get 4 cross folds in the shape of a snowflake.
Now you need to make the rays of the star. To do this, you need to bend one edge of the corner, aligning it along the fold.
Then another.
Repeat the action with all corners.
The rays need to be glued together; a cross shows which side is best to apply glue on. Spread it well on all triangular sides, from the corner to the straight bottom. You can not do everything at once, but take one beam at a time.

YOU WILL NEED
- 2 sheets of cardboard 30 × 30 cm, golden or silver color
- silicone glue
- scissors or utility knife

- If a sheet of cardboard is golden on only one side, you need to glue the two sheets together. If there is no shiny cardboard, make it yourself: apply a thin layer of regular glue to thick paper on both sides and sprinkle it thickly with glitter. Cut the cardboard into 20 identical strips, each 1.5 centimeters wide.
- Take two strips and fold them in the middle crosswise at an angle of 90 degrees, as in the photo.
- Add more stripes on the sides. Interlace the vertical stripes with the horizontal ones, as shown in the picture. Secure the structure with glue. As a result, there should be 10 stripes in a row.
- Add stripes at the top and bottom in the same way. Don't forget to fix them with glue at each joint.
- Unfold the workpiece so that its middle forms a diamond in front of you. Glue the two nearest bottom strips together to make a loop.
- In the same way, connect 4 strips on each side of the workpiece. You should have 2 loops in each corner.
- Make another identical figure.
- Glue both halves together to make a star.
- Stretch the strips that remained unused inside each ray of the star. Secure with glue.
- This is such a wonderful star in the end. You can further decorate it or install a garland inside to make it really shine.
All that remains is to decorate the Christmas tree with a star. You can make several of these toys and hang them from the ceiling.

If thick paper was used in the work, then you should work much more carefully on the folds so that they are as pronounced as possible. A voluminous star made of paper is made quite quickly with your own hands. Finally, you need to make a small loop so that beautiful craft could be hung on a Christmas tree or somewhere else.
Double volume
This option is a continuation of the first instruction, which tells how to make one convex part. This master class will tell you how to make double volume.
According to the previous example, two similar elements should be performed. A 3D paper star template is presented below. Its difference lies in the fact that there are additional elements, intended for gluing parts.
The elements cut out from the template need to be shaped and glued together according to symmetrical additions. All you have to do is wait until the glue dries, and the volumetric paper will be ready.
Star from book pages
And although this star looks very beautiful, many may not be happy about having to spoil books. This is not at all necessary, because they can be replaced with old magazines, newspapers or technical publications.
When thinking about how to make a three-dimensional star out of paper, first of all you should worry about the materials and tools necessary for the work. You will need a voluminous paper star; it can be made by following the master classes presented above. In addition, you need to prepare scissors, glue, and an old book.
