In recent years, products have been used in medical practice for the prevention and treatment of various diseases. Nature's Sunshine Products, Inc. (NSP). The number of countries where NSP representatives successfully work has reached 42 and continues to grow.
The purpose of this work was to study the effectiveness of the use of certain dietary supplements (parapharmaceuticals (herbal medicines) and probiotics) for the treatment of diseases of the gastrointestinal tract (GIT), in particular: stomach ulcers, duodenal ulcers, erosive gastritis, duodenitis, etc.
Currently in Kyiv, more than 100,000 people with chronic gastritis, gastric and duodenal ulcers, gastric lymphoma and Menetrier's disease are registered and are under observation. The etiological connection of the above diseases with infection has been reliably proven Helicobacter pylori , which is one of the most common in humans. From person to person Helicobacter pylori can be transmitted by fecal-oral and other routes (through poorly washed vegetables and fruits, contaminated water, kisses, and poorly sterilized medical instruments).
Infection rate Helicobacter pylori different in developed and developing countries. So, for example, in developing countries, under the age of 20 years, from 10 to 75% are infected, and at the age of 20-40 years - 64-96%, while in developed countries, respectively, 6-39% and 7-54%. According to the Bik-Kyiv Center, it has been established that the infection rate of the population of Ukraine Helicobacter pylori is 80-85%! This is one of the highest prevalence rates of this infection in the world.
To date, unfortunately, no large-scale research has been carried out in Ukraine to isolate strains Helicobacter pylori , and determining their sensitivity to certain antibacterial drugs.
According to the Maastricht Agreement (1996) on eradication Helicobacter pylori (destruction of Helicobacter) the presence of type “B” gastritis, gastric and duodenal ulcers (in active and inactive phases), ulcerative bleeding, poorly differentiated MALT lymphoma, conditions after resection for gastric cancer are strictly recommended indications for combined anti-Helicobacter therapy. The effectiveness of the eradication regimens used (the regimens are regulated by the order of the Russian Ministry of Health, recommended in Ukraine) reaches 90%.
However, the drugs used cause side effects in more than 50% of patients (dyspeptic syndrome, disturbances of intestinal biocenosis, allergic skin reactions, etc.)
The presence of side effects of “traditional” anti-Helicobacter therapy prompts the search for effective drugs that do not have side reactions and a wide range of contraindications.
In the period from May-September 2001, we examined 474 patients, and 49 of them received outpatient treatment using products both in the form of complementary therapy and monotherapy.
The diagnosis was made on the basis of anamnesis, patient complaints, results of laboratory and instrumental research methods: esophagofibrogastroscopy (EFGDS) with biopsy, ultrasound of the abdominal organs, pH-metry, urease test (determination Helicobacter pylori ). A control examination using EGD for ulcerative and erosive pathologies was carried out three weeks after the start of treatment.
For the treatment of patients, NSP products were used against the background of a gentle, divided diet with carbohydrate restriction. 11 patients with stomach and duodenal ulcers, with high acidity (pH = 0.8-0.4), were also prescribed Omez at a dose of 20 mg 1 time per day (up to 14 days).
Patients with erosive and ulcerative pathology (23 cases) were prescribed ColloidalSilver as antibacterial therapy, 1 teaspoon per 1 glass of water 2 times a day, 30 minutes before meals, through a straw; Chlorophyll Liquid- to improve reparative processes - 1 teaspoon per 1 glass of water 2-3 times a day, 30 minutes before meals. During the second month of treatment was prescribed HP Fighter.
For concomitant pathologies (cholecystitis, duodenogastric reflux, hepatitis, anemia, dysbacteriosis), the following drugs were also used:
- Alfalfa, Eight, Natur Lax - with reduced acid-forming function of the stomach;
- Licorice Root, Stomach Comfort- with increased acid-forming function of the stomach;
- Burdock- for cholecystitis with hyperkinesia of the gallbladder;
- LivGuard— for chronic hepatitis and hepatosis;
- Bifidophilus Flora Force- for dysbacteriosis;
- Buplerum Plus- for pain syndromes;
- Iron Сhelat- for iron deficiency anemia.
As a result of treatment, all patients noted the disappearance of pain and other dyspeptic symptoms on the 2-4th day of treatment, the disappearance of bad breath, and an improvement in well-being. Three weeks after the start of treatment, during a control examination using EGD (patients with erosive gastritis, duodenitis, gastric and duodenal ulcers), the mucous membrane of the stomach and duodenum was without signs of inflammation, the ulcers were scarred without gross deformation of organs, erosion were absent. In one patient with erosive gastritis who violated the diet (alcohol intake), healing of erosions was noted after 5 weeks of treatment (with Omez).
Conclusions:
