Therefore, my advice to those who are planning to study in England to become a designer: make sure that you have certificates in English and mathematics equivalent to local GCSE.

About the learning process itself, I can say that, with the Ukrainian school load behind me, it was easier for me than for others. While my classmates were indignant at the amount of work, I silently went and worked, and moreover, I enjoyed it. So learning is easier for “ours” here.

The program itself is very interesting, they give you a lot of freedom of choice: drawing in museums, visiting exhibitions and beautiful places, preparing presentations and studying the industry (including interviews with someone already successful in this field).

Without exaggeration, I lived with projects 24 hours a day. In those short hours when I managed to sleep, I dreamed that I was sewing, drawing, sculpting :) And you know, there were a couple of cases when I could not solve a problem, and the solution actually came in a dream! She jumped up and ran to work. Since we live in a one-room apartment, this created problems and was not entirely fair to our sleeping spouse.

So I would advise local students to get a separate room. This is not a problem here, I myself rented a room for 4 years. It's inexpensive and you'll have your own space.

In general, I didn’t have any problems with studying as such, but I did have problems with my classmates. Here the main role was played by the difference in mentality, whatever one may say, it exists. I was considered too straightforward, and sometimes even rude. Here it is not customary to directly say what you think, so as not to offend the feelings of your interlocutor. Considering that my classmates were between 16 and 20 years old, their feelings were often offended. Some even cried (I'm not kidding!). Needless to say, how much they “liked” that I was always ready on time with all projects and tests. Even my husband jokingly started calling me “sag” :)

I’m not very suspicious, but this attitude still upset me. And as a result - stress. Ballet classes helped me overcome stress.

At one time, the Higher School of Economics was created as an outpost of advanced education, and the School of Design, which appeared just four years ago, sets itself the task of providing the best and most progressive education in various fields of design (communication design, animation and illustration, environmental design, game -design, design and programming, design and contemporary art, design and photography, theater and film artist, fashion) at the world level. Our Fashion program focuses on the innovative experience of international fashion schools and uses current educational technologies. And the project-based learning system allows students from the first year to think about practical problems and solve them, based on current industry trends.”

Dasha Belousova, fourth-year student in the Fashion department at the School of Design of the Higher School of Economics: “As an introductory assignment, I had to prepare a creative project on a more or less free topic and pass an interview on art history. Despite the fact that I passed both stages of the exam rather on a whim, in the end I entered, finding myself in the very first, experimental intake of the school. In the first year, everyone had a common direction: we learned to think like a designer, mastered basic design skills and worked in basic design programs. I honestly admit that this was not easy for me.

Then the second year began, and I chose the “Fashion” direction. Here we were already working on our projects, preparing mood boards, embroidering, taking photographs - in general, we did everything that I love most. During our four years of study, in addition to studying at the university, we did internships at Moscow brands and participated in Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Russia - so now I understand perfectly well what to expect from the “adult” fashion world. In the future, I plan to continue my master’s studies at the School of Design - and at the same time work at the Inshade brand with our curator Masha Smirnova. In the future, I would like to create and develop my own brand - I hope it will work out.”

The history of the Moscow State University of Design and Technology begins in the late 20s of the last century. By decree of the Supreme Council of the National Economy of the USSR, it was decided to create a university specializing in light industry. The training lasts for four years, followed by an optional two-year master's degree. Among other things, the Institute of Technology is famous for providing students with a chance to have close contact with potential employers. In addition to the system of foreign internships, there is industrial practice, where students develop practical skills and create industrial collections of products.

We cooperate with leading enterprises in the fashion industry and are required to send our students to practical training, where they learn the craft.

To promote talented youth, the university organizes competitions that are held at the best venues in the fashion industry and specialized exhibitions. So, literally on March 24, in Gostiny Dvor, as part of Fashion Week in Moscow, the final of the All-Russian competition “Tochka RU” was held, the founder of which is our university. This is a unique opportunity for students to perform in front of the jury on the main podium of the country.”

My parents advised me to enter a university with a long history, and the priority was the Moscow State University of Design and Technology. Today it is the Russian State University named after A. N. Kosygin. I’m very glad that I didn’t make a mistake in my choice: studying here is interesting, there are a lot of necessary subjects. The university helps you find contacts with possible employers and get a good job while still at the university. In the future, I plan to continue my master’s studies here.”
