Which service center is better? How to find a good repair service center

It is best to seek advice from familiar IT specialists; they know the market better and can recommend a reliable service. If you know a boy who fixes everything at home, then you can only trust him with software problems; he is unlikely to have an oscilloscope, a laboratory power supply, an infrared soldering station, a programmer and a PC-3000 at home...

If you choose a company on the Internet, then before calling a courier or taking your laptop for repair, you should pay attention to several points.

1. Collect information about the service center. Go to the contacts section, find information about the legal entity and actual address. Make sure the company is located at this address. To do this, it is enough to check the address in Yandex.Maps, Google Maps or 2GIS.

A simple example. I typed “computer repair” into the search. I open the first link.

Great site, everything is cool!

We find the address: Russia, St. Petersburg, Yuri Gagarin Ave., 11

Go to Yandex.Maps - enter the address. Oh my God..., a residential building, not a single sign, nothing to say that there is a service center with a 15-year reputation here.

If you type the phone number of the “miracle service” into the search, everything will become clear.

2. Collect information about the service center from several sources. Find reviews about the service. If the service has been around for a long time, reviews will be several years old. In any case, there will be negative reviews and this is normal, because... I want to write negative reviews more often than positive ones. But there are mistakes in work and biased clients come across.
If there are no reviews, that's also bad. Either the service has only recently been launched or the name and website are constantly changing.

It is worth paying attention if the reviews are only positive and are all written in the same period. Here is an example of the brilliant work of the marketing department, and not the service itself.

These are reviews from clients of the same service, only on a different site. This is a mistake by the marketing department.

3. Take the time to check the accuracy of the data presented on the site. A legal service will not post false information on the site, at most it will lie.
Here is another example from Yandex search.

This office claims to be called Dom IT LLC with TIN: 7839XXXXXX.
Firstly, if you check this TIN on the tax website (egrul.nalog.ru) - we will not get anything, there is no such thing.
If you check the company's domain on the WhoIs service (www.nic.ru/whois), we will see that the company has not been operating since 2009.

4. Let's say your Lenovo laptop is broken. You can contact the manufacturer's authorized service center. I agree, it may be a little more expensive than a regular unauthorized service, but it is more reliable. It is better to find a list of service centers on the manufacturer’s website.

If you type in the search “lenovo service center in St. Petersburg”, the search will give the following:

There is not a single official Lenovo service center in this list. Whether you should trust a service that initially deceives its client is up to you to decide.

5. I wanted to highlight a separate caste of “services”. The so-called scams.

Such services are easy to identify:

The service has a huge number of small sites

A large number of non-existent addresses, lack of official acceptance.

  • Unrealistically low prices on everything, free diagnostics, free delivery, work guarantee up to 5 years!
How do these companies make money? On scamming a client for non-existent services. Often they do not even have normal engineers and equipment for repairs. But they simply resell services and increase prices, without skimping - 100 and 200%.

Our company also works with such offices, and up to 80% of refusals come from them. A colleague from Moscow revealed the reason to us.

  • X550LN - remove 8 memory chips, replace the 1.35V shim and flash the dump weaned from the set - how much do you announce for the dealer?
  • announced to the dealer 4
  • he gave another dealer another 1.5 grand
  • 18k was announced to the client
  • naturally refusal
  • here is the second dealer - a branch of the St. Petersburg office "Expert"

In St. Petersburg, I know of 3 such services: “Expert”, “KIT service”, “Digital Master”.

Good afternoon, dear readers and my blog! Today I will try to tell you how to find a good service center for repairing your household appliances. I worked in several service centers - both good and bad, so I saw the entire kitchen personally.

I am often asked “where is good service in our city?” or they ask “recommend a good service center where to contact.” To such requests, I most often answer “contact the authorized service center of the manufacturer of your equipment,” that is, if a Samsung monitor is broken, then it is logical to contact the Samsung service in your city - there are specialists there who repair this brand, and a channel for the supply of spare parts from this manufacturer . At least this is what happens most often.

It’s another matter if the required authorized service center is not nearby. Often it is not available in Russia at all - then you have to look for a good private service for repairing consumer electronics. But let's be consistent and start with warranty repairs.

Good service for repairs under warranty

So, before the service, it is better to blow off dust from the laptop, wash the refrigerator, clean the vacuum cleaner, remove storage media from photographic equipment, etc.

Good service for out-of-warranty repairs

If your equipment is no longer under warranty, then welcome to the world of market relations and the widest choice among competitors. There are several signs of a good service center:

  1. Diagnostics are paid, but is included in the cost of repairs if they are carried out. Payment for repairs or diagnostics only after they have been carried out. Some users believe that diagnostics should be free, but judge for yourself - if you are the director of a good service center with good technicians, then you value every minute of your working time. Instead of two or three free diagnostics, a good technician can carry out one repair of average complexity, so “free diagnostics,” in my opinion, is like cheese in a mousetrap - you may have time to catch it, or maybe you won’t.
  2. At the service center there is a website with address details and telephone number at a minimum, and even better, a photo of the reception desk and staff - such a service center is not afraid of anything and is open to the consumer of its services. At the entrance to the SC there should be a consumer corner. There you can pick up a book of complaints to read - you won’t find better or more colorful reviews.
  3. No consultation by phone. If you managed to lead a telephone conversation on the topic of determining a malfunction based on an oral description, then doubts arise about the responsibility of such a service. Any master knows that instead of a thousand words, a personal look at a broken device is more informative.
  4. Well designed price list— the better the price list of services approved by the director of the SC, the better. It's like a menu in a restaurant - the better it looks, the tastier the food appears.
  5. Good service returns burnt out parts- a sure (but not 100%) way to understand that the repair was carried out and the burnt parts were not invented. Before starting repairs, it is worth discussing the return of spare parts. If the service refuses to return your parts to you, then you should think hard about “why?” In my practice, there have been cases when an unscrupulous director included fictitious spare parts and their replacement in the work order, and the client paid because “the work was done.”
  6. Good service gives a guarantee for completed work at least 3 months, or even six months. A 1-month warranty, according to modern standards, is considered very short and indicates uncertainty about the repairs performed.
  7. Good service meets repair deadlines, which often depend on the supply of spare parts. A good service has good channels for the supply of spare parts, so if you were asked to wait a week before the spare parts arrive, but they haven’t called for the second month, then you can safely pick up the device from such a repair. As a last resort, remember that you can go to the Consumer Rights Protection League at any time, which will look into this issue.

All these signs do not provide a 100% guarantee of success, and may even contradict the realities of life. After all, there will always be a lone master in an underground passage who, in 7 minutes and 39 seconds, will replace the display of your smartphone in front of an astonished public and will charge “just beer” for it.

Good service for simple repairs

It often happens that “I just need to replace the battery” or “the wiring has fallen off -?” In such cases, it is better to go to a friend or do it yourself - it will be cheaper and more reliable, just as we do it for ourselves. Seriously though, simple repairs are done within 1 day with good service and sometimes even free of charge in 10 minutes - at the discretion of the technician.
