How to cleanse the body of mucus Ayurveda. Panchakarma

Ayurveda has given us a unique system of cleansing and rejuvenating the body called PANCHAKARMA(Sanskrit pancha - five, karma - action, procedure).

With the help of procedures, toxins and waste are removed from all tissues of the body, cleansing occurs at the cellular level. Why pancha - five, karma - action? The procedures are aimed at cleansing 5 main organs (eyes, nose, lungs, stomach and entire intestines). Ayurveda teaches that a person's natural state is one of health, happiness and an inner sense of well-being. In addition to cleansing procedures, you need to do yoga, study your body and mind. In modern tension, in a stressful and toxic world, toxins and stress accumulate in the physical and mental sphere of a person, which leads to a deterioration in their functioning, ultimately the body is weakened, and diseases appear.

The first time I learned about cleansing the body was from my friend. She turned the conversation into a joke when it came to enemas and catheters in the nose. She said, “I won’t do this! I won’t and there’s no need to persuade me!”

All herbs were brought from India from Ayurveda doctor Jetendriya, with whom I subsequently met and learned panchakarma.

A short body cleansing program for 14 days. The full program lasts 21 days.

Part One: Preparation

I advise you to undergo panchakarma in Ayurvedic centers under the supervision of an experienced specialist. Panchakarma is suitable both for prevention (to prevent the accumulation of ama (waste, toxins)) and for the treatment of health disorders. But if you do not have this opportunity, you can do it at home, But first find more information, study the details, be responsible!

The first time I did panchakarma at home, on the waxing moon. This is important because We are one with nature, just as the moon affects the ebb and flow of the tides, it also affects the flows in our body. The cleansing program begins with internal and external oiling. For 7 days in a row, take ghee in the morning on an empty stomach. How to make ghee? Melt the butter, it is advisable to choose an oil with 82.5% mass fraction of fat, remove the top foam and white sediment. Took: 1 tbsp. spoon first day, 2 tbsp. spoon the second day and so on up to 7 spoons. When the number of spoons became noticeable, I used buckwheat porridge. On the seventh day the porridge was swimming in oil)). If the oil is very difficult to take at one time, it can be taken between meals. (If you have high cholesterol or blood sugar, use flaxseed oil instead. It contains acids that lower cholesterol.)

In the evening I smeared my entire body with sesame and olive oil (the oil should have a warming effect, you can warm it up slightly). Apply with massaging movements. My joints stopped cracking. The skin became pleasant to the touch.

Using this method, I achieved oiling of all cells of the body. During life, cells die and must be excreted naturally, but improper nutrition clogs not only the intestines, but also all the small excretory tracts and canals, only in the head there are 4 of them (the nose and mouth are not counted). Cells that cannot escape shrink and remain in the body to rot. As a person ages, he begins to smell (we have all encountered this unpleasant odor), one of the reasons is dead cells.

I advise you to remove all types of meat and fish from your diet. Friends, show determination!

Part Two: Therapeutic Cleansing of the Five Organs

I advise you to exclude from your diet all types of meat, fish, eggs, all dairy products, all grains, all legumes, everything pickled, salty, bread, alcohol, chocolate, our favorite cookies with sweets, etc. Eat only plant foods. Buckwheat, potatoes, special young rice are allowed. Drink, but not sparkling water. I strictly adhere to this diet. I carry out all procedures in the morning. Early in the morning rasa falls out, and in our body the removal of mucus from the body occurs in the morning.

7.00 - 7.15 Jala neti (Nasya) - rinsing the sinuses. Cures runny nose, improves vision and smell. She lubricated her nostrils with SHATBINDU oil and passed a catheter through each nostril.

"Catheter?? In the nose?? - I said. "My pleasure!" I conjured up images of thin, black-bearded yogis, and now I understand how tightly my brain was closed to various, sometimes necessary, information. The oil is burning, I dropped it in with a pipette. He pulls his nose, but a lot of mucus comes out.

A catheter is a thin rubber cord. Then I washed the nasal passages with salt water, using a nasal teapot (1 tsp per half liter of warm water, taste the water, it should be slightly salty. If the water is not salty or too salty, it will hurt). The catheter went through the first nostril calmly, but not into the second, only on the 4th day was it possible to quietly and painlessly clear the nose. Be careful, listen to your body.

7.15 - 7.20 Vamana dhauti (Vastra dhauti)…I remembered from childhood Ukhti Tukhti - cleansing the stomach. The most powerful means of removing mucus from the respiratory tract. While squatting, I drank 3-4 glasses of water. It is recommended to drink up to 10 glasses of clean, warm water and induce vomiting. I drank water at room temperature. I purchased all the water for the procedures in bottles; you should not use tap water. Vamana dhauti is easy for me, but for others it may be difficult - it depends on the length of the esophagus. During the cleaning period, the hands and feet began to freeze, and in addition to mucus, gastric juice (one of the components for the body’s production of heat) comes out. Then I cleaned my tongue with a special scraper, but do not press it hard, the tongue is sensitive. I brushed my teeth.

7.20 - 7.35 Retu - inhalation. I used OLESHAN oil. For 0.5 liters of boiling water, add 4 drops of OLESHAN oil. Inhaled for 15 minutes. There is nothing complicated, except that “Oleshan - take your eye out!” J.

7.35 - 7.40 Neta neti (Netra basti) - cleansing the eyes. Relieves tension, restores intraocular pressure, cleans channels. Eye baths are usually used (1 tsp of Triphala per 100 ml of boiling water, leave overnight, strain before use). I used swimming goggles, I just didn't bother looking for bathtubs. Feeling the sand in the water with your eyes. Then, a person who wears glasses shared his experience with me; his vision was not restored, but the picture became clearer.

7.40 - 7.45 Virechana - bowel cleansing. Rejuvinative is used. 1 tsp washed it down with a glass of water. This is a mild laxative to cleanse the small intestine.

7.40 - 8.00 Utkleshana basti - cleansing the intestines, cleansing the rectum. Enema. “Never!!!” I said and often hear from others J. In the evening I prepared a decoction for 1 liter. boiling water 5 tsp. Triphala powder and 3 tsp. Neem powder, left until morning, and in the morning added fresh juice of 3 limes (half a lemon). I did it in the bathtub on all fours, it’s better to hang the “Esmarch mug” higher. The tip was lubricated with oil. In the first days, the mug did not pour in at once (If the whole mug poured in at once, this is a good indicator). Don't give up friends :-D!

8.10 - 10.10 or 18.00 - 20.00 Hatha Yoga - performing asanas. Yoga classes help the infusions go deeper into the organs, massaging and nourishing them. The joints and spine are worked out. Use meditation to calm your mind.

After yoga or in the evening, massage - abhyanga, marma, mamsa and Nuga-Best. Ask your loved ones for a massage, massages are necessary. You will feel lumps in your body, if you haven’t done a massage for a long time, they need to be kneaded. I felt that kneading them was not pleasant.

After a massage or in the evening Sauna - cleansing of salts, toxins and impurities. Hamam (Turkish bath) is recommended. In the morning you drink a lot of water, once I did Panchakarma without a bath and on the 5th day I felt an excess of water in my body.

Verichanabasti- cleansing of the gallbladder and kidneys on the 5th day. This is a separate part, based on the use of olive oil and lemon juice. I’ll put it in a separate part, because... there are contraindications.

Raktamokshana- therapeutic bloodletting on the 7th day, especially after Verichanabasti, many emissions will enter the blood, it needs to be purified by draining. I went to a private clinic, where they helped me do this, at first the blood was dark and thick, the needle got clogged, usually you get 2 syringes, I can’t say for sure, the end of the drain will be light blood.

Recovery

Chyawanprash 1 tsp. - a mixture of various herbs. Stresscom 0.5 tsp. 2 times a day. - sedative.

The decoctions and herbs used do not begin to act from the first day, but gradually, accumulating in the body day by day. After the end of panchakarma, they will be at their peak and last for 1-2 weeks, so try to remain vegetarian after panchakarma.

I practice this technique every year, all methods have become the norm for me and do not evoke different emotions, only funny memories. After the first cleanse, the desire to eat meat disappeared, and lightness appeared in the body and mind. After the first, second, third cleansing, a weight loss of 5-3 kg was observed. The taste of food began to be felt brighter. I began to notice that people say my age with a difference of 5-8 years downwards. Emotions such as anger and cruelty have left my life. The fact that I stopped getting sick was important and influential. Although before Panchakarma I often had a fever in autumn, spring, winter, I am 100% sick. My hands and feet were often cold, but now they are warm. I forgot what a headache is.

I became more interested in health and started attending yoga. It’s not for nothing that they say “A healthy mind in a healthy body.” I see the need for everyone to do yoga; you can heal your body and work on your mind. After deep meditation, I realized that there is true happiness, my heart was filled with compassion for all living beings.

Therefore, I try to convey to people at least the basic things - proper nutrition and a proper lifestyle. Panchakarma helped me get out of the state of tamas; while in rajas, I see the path to sattva. I feel sattva.

Eastern wisdom says: “You need to start treatment not two days before death, but two days before birth.” This does not mean that you need to drink kilograms of pills from the first day of life. Eastern medicine, which is also a philosophy, teaches a culture of health.

A person comes into the world with a certain constitution (dosha): vata (movement), pitta (transformation) or kapha (adaptation). It is necessary to teach the body to maintain the constitutional type, and then it will not become polluted and spend energy on fighting diseases. Your task is to neutralize the negative impact of the environment. Agree: it’s better to avoid clutter than to do general cleaning and major body repairs with enviable regularity! Balance its systems and cleanse at the right time, taking into account the characteristics of your body!

Fasting on the Sun and Moon Phases

For cleansing procedures to be beneficial, carry them out taking into account the biorhythms of your own body, the rhythms of the planet and the cosmos.

The most favorable time for such procedures is the transit time of the Sun through the fiery constellations: Aries, Leo, Sagittarius. Energy is dissolved in the air, and the body needs light food. It is no coincidence that we find echoes of ancient traditions in Orthodoxy: periods of power of fire signs are times of fasting (Sagittarius - Nativity Fast, Aries - Lent, Leo - Dormition Fast). These procedures are effective when the seasons of the year change: from February to March, from May to June, from August to September, from November to December. This is a favorable time for soft cleaning.

If the body is heavily polluted, serious cleansing measures are carried out during these periods. In Ayurvedic centers these are Pancha karma procedures (warming, oiling, enemas, baths, inhaling medications through the nose and bloodletting). The frequency of procedures depends on the constitution and metabolic rate: for an asthenic person it is enough to cleanse the body once a year, for a person with a dense, loose build – once every three months. Start cleansing on the first day of the waning moon.

In addition, keep in mind: from January to July, solar activity is high, which weakens and depletes the body. A slight loss of strength at this time is natural: avoid physical and intellectual overload. The highest solar activity is in May. According to Ayurveda, it causes acidification of the body. In August, this occurs due to the abundance of sour berries and fruits in the diet. An acidic environment is ideal soil for diseases. At the end of spring and summer, you need to eliminate excess acidity by taking warm milk with butter at night (per 100 ml - 1 teaspoon or tablespoon, depending on your constitution). If you don't consume dairy products, take flax seed. Scroll a teaspoon or tablespoon of seeds for 2 seconds in a coffee grinder, pour 200 ml of boiling water, leave, beat until foamy.

In the off-season, use natural sorbents: young nettle, gooseberries, infusion of barley grains.

The power of gold and stones

As the seasons change, take honey water on an empty stomach in the morning, which starts the digestion process.

Stir honey in a glass of water and leave overnight (the solution should be barely sweet). Drink in the morning, immediately after waking up. Honey water irritates the tongue and starts the digestion process, it opens the bile ducts and prevents stagnation of bile. Depending on your constitution (vata, pitta or kapha), the effect of sweet honey water can be enhanced by infusing minerals and metals in it.

Vate - silver and turquoise, pitte - silver, gold, jade, platinum, aquamarine, kapha - gold, copper, ruby, garnet, carnelian.

Cotton wool. Thin, impetuous, restless, fickle, freedom-loving. Does not tolerate rules and restrictions. A very impressionable and subtle nature with a developed imagination.
Pitta. Average build, energetic, ambitious, domineering, purposeful. Has a developed intellect. Easily and quickly irritated.
Kapha. Graceful, with a tendency to be overweight, slow, calm, a little lazy, with a developed instinct of ownership.

If you are on the border

In addition to pure types of constitution, there are also double (mixed) types. There are other recommendations for them.

For dual constitution types, diet and lifestyle recommendations should be selected that are suitable for the two dominant doshas. Weather conditions must also be taken into account.

Vata pitta: diet and lifestyle are close to the vata type, and in the heat - to the pitta type.

Pitta-vata: diet and lifestyle are close to pitta, and in windy or cold weather - to vata.

Pitta-kapha:
the diet and lifestyle are close to pitta, and in damp or frosty weather - to the kapha diet.

Kapha Pitta: diet and lifestyle are close to kapha, and in the heat - to pitta.

Vata-kapha: the diet is close to the vata diet, and in damp or rainy weather - to the kapha diet.

Kapha Vata: lifestyle and diet are close to kapha.

Harmony of soul and doshas

All three doshas are combined in the body; they are responsible for the functioning of internal organs. When there is an imbalance in one of them, the body becomes vulnerable. This imbalance is also caused by... our thoughts and feelings, habits, diet and lifestyle!

Vata is located in the bones, sacrum, rectum, colon, ears, feet, legs, kidneys and bladder. A sign of its imbalance is flatulence and spasms. The means of cleansing is enemas. Pitta “lives” in the red part of the blood and in the lymph, in the duodenum; a sign of its imbalance is increased acidity. The cleanser is a herbal laxative. Kapha is found in the chest, head, neck, and joints. A sign of imbalance is chronic respiratory diseases with mucus accumulation. Purging by vomiting. To bring the doshas into balance, you need to consult a specialist.

Hygiene of mind and body

Learn to control negative emotions that are destructive to the body - manifestations of aggression, anger, resentment, hatred and envy. It’s normal to react to a stimulus, but give it a way out in a way that doesn’t harm yourself. Yoga practices will help (by performing asanas, you will learn to relax and one way or another reach a new spiritual level), meditation (after mastering the asanas), relaxation in any way that is not harmful to health. Cleanse your soul! Even following the 10 biblical commandments is a great start to a new, healthy life!

Try to keep fasts. By changing your diet, you will gradually change your worldview. During fasting, when you do not eat heavy food, you experience a state of lightness, aggression and bad thoughts disappear. It is important not to delay the fast, otherwise depression and nervous exhaustion are one step away, especially if during this period you try to actively work and engage in physical labor. A week before fasting days, increase the amount of oil in your food, do not eat anything spicy, fried, onions, garlic, give up alcohol and coffee. Before fasting, kapha should drink ginger tea with lemon before meals to support the digestive fire. Vata needs to rest as much as possible, pitta needs to take a herbal laxative.

Emotions and health are closely related. For example, the habit of “keeping everything inside” leads to an imbalance of vata. As a result, the immune system suffers.

Burn, fire, burn!

To maintain the fire of digestion and prevent slagging of the body, follow the rules:

Eat in a way that evokes positive emotions.
Learn to listen to your body: it will tell you what is harmful to you and what is beneficial. A person who is not spoiled by fast food clearly knows: I like this, I don’t like this, this is good for me, and this is useless food.
Do not eat foods containing MSG (read the labels on the packaging carefully) and do not give such foods to your child. This chemical is a flavor enhancer; it makes foods you might not like taste good.
Don't eat when you're angry with someone or upset about something.

After cleaning

Exit cleansing procedures wisely:

Don’t play “locust games” in front of the refrigerator the next day. Add foods that you gave up during fasting to your diet gradually.
At the end of fasting, teas that support the digestive fire are useful: ginger, cinnamon, cardamom and fennel.
After cleansing procedures, a massage is indicated: vata - oil, pitta - light, cooling (with mint oil), kapha - stimulating, strong.
After fasting, follow a diet that suits your body type!

In the previous part of our article, we looked at the main reasons for the formation of toxins and their prevention and move on to a simple, time-tested method of cleansing, thanks to which you can remove from the body those toxins that have already accumulated in organs and tissues.

The first component of the “cleansing” is castor oil - ordinary “castor oil”, which is sold in every pharmacy. Modern medicine recommends it mainly as a laxative for cleansing the intestines, but Ayurveda says that castor oil, penetrating into the thinnest bodily channels, cleanses the entire body of ama (“toxins,” pathological mucus), dissolving it and removing it from the tissues . Ama, as a rule, has a fat-soluble nature, so cleansing with water and juices does not work in case of serious slagging in the body.

The presence of ama is determined in the morning after sleep, by the condition of the tongue. A thick white or grayish coating indicates the presence of ama, a thick yellow coating additionally indicates problems with the liver or biliary tract. Note: a slight slight coating on the tongue is the norm in Ayurveda (including in pitta constitutions it may be yellowish), and there is no need to worry about this.

Castor oil is taken orally before meals, and is especially effective in the morning. The daily dose is selected individually, on average it is 3 teaspoons per day and can be reduced or increased depending on the type of intestine. Vata, pitta and kapha people have hard, soft and medium intestinal types respectively. Those. The largest amount of oil can be taken by vata, the smallest by pitta. The criterion for correct dose selection is the frequency of stool 2-3 times a day. If it is not possible to take the oil during the day, you can limit yourself to taking it only in the morning. The coating on the tongue may increase during use, because ama in the body begins to move.

Before using castor oil, you should familiarize yourself with the contraindications (the full list can be found on the Internet, a short list can be found in the instructions for the drug) and it is advisable to consult a doctor. According to modern medicine, the main contraindications are: individual intolerance, appendicitis and other acute inflammatory bowel diseases, internal, uterine and intestinal bleeding, poisoning with fat-soluble substances (including phosphorus, gasoline, benzene, etc.), parallel intake of the extract male fern, pregnancy. Use with caution for gallstones. Also, with long-term use, castor oil can create a deficiency of vitamins A and D in the body, because they are fat-soluble in nature and lead to intestinal atony. If the effects of individual intolerance appear (nausea, pain, etc.), taking the oil must be stopped.

The second preparation is dry ginger powder (a spice available in most large supermarkets). In this case, it is advisable to refrain from purchasing “by weight” on the markets, because spices there are often diluted with flour or starch to increase volume.

Dry ginger activates metabolism, which “burns” ama, which is removed from tissues by castor oil. Despite the pungent taste, dry ginger (unlike fresh) has almost no contraindications, because... its vipak (aftertaste, “taste after digestion”) is sweet, as a result of which it has almost no irritating effect on the mucous membranes. Unless during pregnancy, lactation and during exacerbation of gastrointestinal diseases, you can abstain from it. The average daily dose is 3 teaspoons per day, it can be reduced or increased depending on individual “tolerance”, because Commercially available ginger may have varying degrees of “pungency.” The powder can be brewed with boiling water either in its pure form or added to teas - black, green, hibiscus, rose hip tea, etc.

The average cleansing course is one week; if necessary, it can be repeated after a month (based on tongue diagnosis). You should not overuse castor oil during longer courses, because... In some cases, side effects may occur. Also, you should not abuse the frequency of courses: if the morning state of the tongue has returned to normal, there is no particular need for them. Dry ginger can also be consumed off-course to prevent the formation of toxins; it is especially useful for people with a kapha constitution. In people of pitta constitution, it can unbalance pitta (despite the fact that they, as a rule, like spicy things), so it is better for pittas not to consume ginger constantly and in significant quantities, especially in the hot season.

Similar treatment (castor oil and dry ginger) can be effectively used for rheumatism and rheumatoid arthritis, but since these diseases are serious, in order to avoid unwanted effects in this case, it is better not to self-medicate, but to consult an Ayurvedic specialist.

The Om-Aditya Center wishes you Love - for God, for yourself, for the world around you - and awareness of yourself as a Soul, which are the foundations of health, happiness and prosperity.

Cleansing the body with Ayurveda

Cleansing levels

IN Ayurveda There are two levels of purification. The first level can be called “pre-detoxification”. It aims to improve digestion and eliminate toxins. The second, deeper level is the removal of excess doshas from the body. These two levels are described above as palliative and purifying therapy respectively.

Preliminary detoxification is easier to carry out; it does not require special preparation, as for Panchakarma and for more powerful methods of cleansing therapy. Her methods are also used in cases where deep cleansing therapy is not necessary or impossible. Periodic use of pre-detoxification methods can be no less effective than deeper cleansing methods.

Western and Chinese medicine do not distinguish between these two levels of cleansing. They may combine deeper cleansing methods with pre-detoxification methods (for example, the use of laxatives - using spices to improve digestion). They do not have a theoretical system to distinguish between excess doshas and the presence of toxins. Ayurveda, by distinguishing them, brings clarity to the problem of detoxification and helps to avoid side effects that may arise from the use of overly strong or incorrectly prescribed cleansing therapy methods.

Pre-detoxification

Pre-cleansing of toxins is usually carried out at the initial stage of treatment. Most people suffer from the accumulation of toxins, undigested food particles and waste products (called “Ama” in Sanskrit) in the body, which not only can cause various diseases, but also interfere with the absorption of nutrients. Until these accumulations are eliminated, the body will not be able to properly absorb food and herbs. Most diseases (including chronic diseases such as allergies, arthritis and cancer) are caused by Amoi or is accompanied by its formation and aggravated by it.

Just like deeper cleansing methods, pre-detoxification is best done during the warmer months of the year - late spring or summer, but in the case of pre-detoxification this restriction is less strict, since its methods are not particularly strong.

Light detoxification in the spring is beneficial for almost everyone. To do this, you need to eat more fresh greens, raw foods, cooling herbs: all of this helps cleanse the blood. With the onset of warm weather, when everything begins to grow, the toxins that have accumulated inside the body over the winter begin to come to the surface. Therefore, it is important to eliminate them immediately so that they do not cause diseases in the summer.

Ama conditions, by-products of improper digestion

The states of Ama - accumulations of undigested food or metabolic products in the body - vary depending on the predominant dosha. These states are called “Sama” (in Sanskrit “sa” means “with”, hence “Sama” means “with Ama”). There are states of Ama related to Kapha and called “Kapha Itself”, when the presence of toxins is combined with the predominance of Kapha in the individual constitution. Accordingly, there are states of Sama Pitta and Sama Vata (see the section “Cleansing from toxins, effects on Ama” in the book “Hers and Spices”).

  • Symptoms Kapha herself- indigestion, congestion and thick sputum that is difficult to expectorate.
  • Pitta herself manifests itself as indigestion, hyperacidity and diarrhea, as well as fever or toxemia (toxins in the blood).
  • Vata herself manifests itself as indigestion, bloating, gas and constipation.

General signs of Ama states- coating on the tongue, unpleasant odor from the mouth and the whole body, poor digestion, a feeling of general heaviness and dullness. Cleansing from Ama is carried out until these symptoms disappear. You need to be prepared for the fact that toxins released during treatment can cause headaches and other side effects. Methods for eliminating Ama are applicable to any constitution and are usually carried out along with therapy aimed at balancing the doshas.

Detoxifying Herbs

Of the six tastes, Amu is increased by sweet, salty and sour. Not only do they promote tissue growth, but they also increase toxins. The astringent taste is neutral in this regard: it helps to dry out Ama, but due to its astringent effect, it retains it in the body. Pungent and bitter tastes effectively counteract Ama: bitter taste reduces it, and pungent taste destroys it.

Herbal medicine aimed at eliminating Ama is based on the principle of burning it with the help of herbs that increase the digestive fire. Ama in its properties is opposite to Agni - digestive fire - and blocks its action. Therefore, herbs that have a fiery nature and stimulate Agni are used against it.

Hot spices best serve this purpose: red pepper, black pepper, dry ginger, pippali, asafoetida and mustard. Warm spices, such as cardamom, cumin, coriander, basil and fennel, are also helpful.

Effective formulations Trikatu And Asafoetida 8. If they are not available, you can prepare a mixture of equal quantities of red and black pepper and dry ginger and take it 2-3 times a day, 0.5-1 g (in capsules or with honey).

For Sama Kapha and Sama Vata conditions, these herbs usually have no contraindications. In some Sama Pitta conditions they can also be used - but with caution as their hot nature can aggravate Pitta (in which case they should be combined with bitter herbs).

Bitter herbs help remove Ama from tissues and eliminate fever or infection caused by it. This is a good remedy for fermentation, high temperature, inflammation and especially for cleansing the blood of Ama. Bitter herbs are most effective for Sama Pitta and Sama Kapha conditions, and sometimes (in small quantities) are useful for chronic Sama Vata conditions. They can be used for Ama conditions caused by excessive consumption of sweet or fatty foods.

Pure bitters, such as “golden seal”, gentian, barberry and senna, have the most healing properties. Among the herbs of Chinese medicine, pure bitters include coptis, skullcap Baikal, blackhead, gentian and gardenia, and from Ayurvedic herbs - katuka, margosa and aloe. A good remedy is also the composition “Swedish Bitters”. From Ayurvedic compositions used Tikta And Mahasudarshan. If they are not available, you can mix gentian, barberry and turmeric in equal parts and take this powder in capsules or with honey two to three times a day, 0.5 - 1 g.

Abstinence from food

Therapeutic fasting is an effective detoxification therapy, but it requires the patient to be quite strong, especially if fasting from food lasts more than a few days. Fasting is good before using a detoxifying diet: 3 - 5 days for Vata, 5 - 7 days for Pitta and 1 - 2 weeks for Kapha.

You can fast on vegetable juices. Fruit juices are not recommended as the sweet taste may increase Amu, but lemon juice, especially when combined with ginger juice, is quite good for this purpose. Abstaining from food is sometimes combined with taking herbs that enhance digestive fire. You can use spicy herbs, Trikatu composition, teas made from spices (ginger, cinnamon, cardamom, fennel) and bitterness, such as aloe juice.

Therapeutic fasting is effective at the initial stage of treating diseases, it helps remove toxins and kindle the digestive fire. However, when appetite is restored, fasting should be stopped, since prolonged abstinence from food can suppress Agni. After properly carried out fasting, the tongue becomes clean, the body acquires a pleasant smell, appetite and digestion are normalized, there is no loss of strength, and a feeling of clarity and lightness appears.

Intestinal irrigations, laxatives and enemas

Another way to detoxify is to cleanse the intestines. It can be combined with therapeutic fasting or a detox diet. In Ayurveda, as already stated, laxatives and enemas usually form part of Panchakarma and, as such, have a stronger effect. However, sometimes when cleansing the body of Ama, they are used on their own.

Laxatives may be helpful for constipation or irregular bowel movements. If the feces are heavier than water (sinks in it), this indicates the presence of Ama. The use of laxatives is especially effective in removing accumulations of undigested food from the colon, which can be detected by palpation: they feel hard, uneven and usually painless. Laxative cleanses are also useful for food poisoning or toxic conditions of the digestive system. Laxatives should not be used for chronically loose stools, diarrhea, loss of energy or exhaustion, even if the tongue is coated or other signs of Ama are present.

Intestinal irrigations- the most effective method of directly cleansing the colon, and therefore it can be successfully used to remove toxins. Most often they are prescribed for Kapha constitutions, and least often for Vata constitutions.

Intestinal irrigation is not recommended for patients suffering from disorders of the nervous system or subject to fear and severe anxiety, as well as weakness, exhaustion, loss of strength, anorexia, and fatigue. However, 1-2 such treatments can be beneficial for most people.

Intestinal irrigations greatly suppress the digestive fire, so after them you must take herbs that improve digestion.

Although colonic irrigations are often very effective in removing deep-seated accumulations from the colon, Ayurveda favors laxatives, emetics and enemas as more targeted methods of cleansing the doshas.

Laxative herbs are similar in their effects to intestinal irrigations. They cleanse the small and large intestines, although not to such a complete extent. Sometimes taking laxatives on the first day of fasting helps. You can use them additionally - every 3 - 7 days of abstaining from food, especially in the presence of pronounced signs of Ama.

Laxatives that lubricate the intestinal wall and increase intestinal volume, particularly flea grass and flaxseed, are not recommended for conditions where detoxification is necessary, as they can further increase congestion in the body. In these cases, bitter laxatives (rhubarb, aloe) in combination with hot spices (for example ginger) are useful, which will support the digestive fire and promote more complete burning of Ama.

Enemas are usually preferable to intestinal irrigation as a means of cleansing the colon (especially in Vata constitutions) because their effect is not as intense.

Triphala

Triphala- a composition of the fruits of three myrobalan trees - one of the best medicines created in India. Among herbal laxatives, this is the safest remedy, and also a general tonic. Taking Triphala for a long time in moderate doses and following a diet that eliminates Ama, you can get the same results as using stronger methods. Triphala is taken before bed (the usual dose is 3 - 10 g) so that after waking up the intestines are properly emptied. You can take it in tablet form or as an infusion with a small amount of honey, since this drug has a very unpleasant taste that is difficult to drown out with anything. The dosage can be adjusted depending on your own feelings and gradually reduced over time.

Triphala not only gradually cleanses the intestines of all kinds of toxins, but also strengthens the digestive fire. Unlike other laxatives, it has no side effects. In addition, it nourishes and strengthens deep tissues.

Triphala is useful to take along with spices that improve digestion, such as Trikatu. This combination promotes a balanced cleansing of the stomach and colon, and also improves metabolism. This combination formulation, when made part of the daily diet, can prevent the accumulation of Ama.

Aloe juice

Instead of Triphala, you can use aloe juice (this should be real aloe juice without additives that can change its properties). Aloe juice is usually more suitable for treating Sama Pitta or Sama Kapha conditions. When taken over a long period of time, it cleanses the colon without weakening the digestive fire too much. You should take it 2-3 teaspoons two or three times a day, preferably with a small amount of spices - ginger, black pepper or turmeric.

When combined with an Ama-reducing diet or a specific dosha-reducing diet, aloe juice is an effective tissue and gastrointestinal cleanser. It has no side effects that weaken the body.

Detoxification Diet (Ama Reducing Diet)

According to Ayurveda, the accumulation of toxins and waste in the body occurs due to food that is poorly digested. Such foods are heavy, fatty, stale or highly processed foods - cheese, pork, lard, refined sugar, white flour products, etc. Yogurt is often included on this list because it promotes mucus buildup.

Foods that promote the formation of Ama are most often of the nature of Kapha, so a diet that reduces Ama is in many ways similar to a diet that reduces Kapha. It is similar to a typical Western health diet, consisting of fresh, raw, mucus-free foods. In Ayurveda, such a diet is not recommended for everyone: it is used only as part of a preliminary cleansing therapy.

  • Fruits. When detoxifying, most fruits can only be eaten in small quantities. Sweet fruits and fruit juices, especially bananas, pears, persimmons, grape and cherry juices, should be avoided. Some acidic fruit juices (lemon, lime, grapefruit) and astringent fruits (such as cranberry or pomegranate) can help cleanse.
  • Vegetables For the most part, they remove toxins from the body well. It is better to eat them raw, but you can also steam them. Sprouts (alfalfa, sunflower, buckwheat, wheat, rice, barley) are especially useful because they contain special enzymes that help the body process Amu. Juices from celery, parsley, cilantro and spinach are also useful. Carrots, especially on their own, are usually too sweet. Heavier root vegetables such as potatoes and sweet potatoes should be used with caution. Mushrooms require special care.
  • Cereals. Whole grains are generally good for cleansing the body, but breads and pastries, especially those made with white flour, should be avoided. It is necessary to limit the consumption of sweet and heavy cereals - wheat and oats. In people with high Ama, wheat can cause allergies. An excellent detoxifying food is khichadhi, a mixture of equal parts long rice and hulled mung beans. Barley is also good.
  • Legumes should generally be avoided as they promote gas formation and gases in turn tend to increase Amu. An exception is mung bean, which is useful for most Ama conditions, especially Sama Pitta.
  • Nuts and seeds. Nuts, especially roasted or salted ones, are mostly heavy food and contribute to mucus formation. In Ama conditions they are usually recommended to be avoided. Sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, sesame seeds and other plants are better than nuts, but they should not be consumed in large quantities.
  • Dairy products, especially pasteurized ones, are very amagenic (increase Amu). Milk has a strong mucus-forming effect, and yogurt, cheese and butter have an even stronger effect. In general, dairy products should be avoided, but unsalted whey is fine. Instead of yogurt, it is better to take acidophilus tablets.
  • Animal products greatly contribute to the accumulation of toxins. First of all, animal fats, lard and red meat should be avoided. Pork is the most unfavorable. Fish, shellfish and crustaceans, especially stale ones, can greatly increase mucus production. Of all types of meat, the least harmful are chicken and turkey, or rather white meat. But it is better to completely avoid animal products, including eggs.
  • Oils promote mucus formation and should be avoided. Ghee can be consumed in small quantities. You can use “dry” oils - mustard and linseed.
  • Sahara. It is also better to avoid sweets. Honey is the least harmful, but it should not be heated. Of all sugars, refined sugar is the most amagenic. Raw sugar isn't much better.
  • Spices. For Ama conditions, any spices, including hot ones, are usually beneficial (see “Detoxifying Herbs”). Salt increases Amu and should be consumed in moderation. Rock salt is preferred over sea salt as it is lighter in nature and easier to digest.
  • Drinks. Cold drinks, especially drinks with ice, should be avoided. Spring water is useful, as is distilled water. Herbal teas are excellent, especially those made from hot spices - ginger, cinnamon, cardamom, etc. Coffee is best avoided, but black tea in small quantities won't hurt.

Dietetics

The Amu-reducing diet is the strictest. Food should be simple. You should include as few different foods as possible in one meal. Do not drink a lot of liquid while eating. Food must be raw or freshly prepared. Reheated, canned or stale food should not be eaten. Several hours should pass between meals, usually eating three times a day. You should not eat before 10 a.m. or after sunset. The main meal should be at noon. Food should be light, so that its absorption does not cause difficulties. Overeating should be avoided.

Warning

Since this diet has a strong alleviating effect, it must be followed with caution. With a Vata constitution, as a rule, it is observed for no more than two weeks, with a Pitta constitution - no longer than a month. People belonging to the Kapha type can stick to this diet for a longer period of time. It can be modified depending on the predominant dosha, especially with prolonged use.

A detoxifying diet should not be prescribed to weakened, malnourished, very old or very young people. If the patient becomes weak, it should be discontinued. Signs of detox diet abuse include insomnia, palpitations, loss of energy, fainting, amenorrhea, and chronic loss of appetite. The Western diet, based on the consumption of raw foods and similar to the one discussed, causes similar side effects when used in moderation. This is a useful tool, but its use has its limits.

Taking drugs to burn ama
Removing excess doshas in places where they accumulate.
Purification of consciousness by reading scriptures and repeating the Names of God.

Illness and ama.
Basically, the treatment of the disease is that first we cleanse the body of ama, then restore the doshas, and then gain weight again. Then we again accumulate ama, we again begin to get rid of it, and so on until we find ourselves in the Spiritual world.
The disease occurs due to the accumulation of ama, the toxic products of indigestion, in the body.
It all starts with the food channel. When it is clogged, decay products begin to suppress the fire of digestion, and the person does not receive sufficient nutrition. He eats and yet feels weak due to the fact that the main esophagus and intestines are clogged with toxins. Ama from the surface state in the intestines and stomach penetrates into other dhatus, into other tissues.
The degree of manifestation of the disease depends on how deeply the ama has entered the tissue. All fatal and chronic diseases begin with simple indigestion.
Ayurveda says that disease is the body’s desire to get rid of toxins. The body creates a critical situation, as a result of which the temperature rises, and then pathogenic microbes burn the ama. If a person does not make any attempts to get rid of ama, then the body has to take measures on its own.

There are four stages through which disease treatment occurs in Ayurveda.
The first is to establish the cause of the disease.
The second is getting rid of the excess dosha that caused the disease.
The third is balancing the doshas and igniting the fire of digestion, which will help burn excess ama and toxic substances.
The fourth is restoration of what is damaged in the body.

Modern medicine only eliminates the symptoms of the disease, without eliminating the cause. This prevents the body from getting rid of further accumulation of ama. As a result, ama penetrates even deeper. Symptomatic treatment leads to the fact that the disease, even though the symptoms can be eliminated, moves into a more severe stage.

Cleansing methods

Detoxification.
“Ayurveda” says that if a person has accumulated ama, he does not feel well and feels weak all the time, in this case several different courses of treatment can be taken. However, before treating the emerging disease, you must first get rid of the accumulated ama. For this, Ayurveda offers preliminary detoxification.
Detoxification in Ayurveda can have different levels. If we have accumulated a lot of toxic ama, and we immediately undertake a deep detoxification, then the ama that then comes to the surface can even have a detrimental effect on us. Therefore, first of all, gradualism is necessary. “Ayurveda” talks about preliminary detoxification, gentle methods for preliminary cleansing of the body. When the main “golden” reserves of ama are removed from the body, you can go deeper into the tissue and remove chronic ama from there.
Ayurveda says that the best time to start detoxing is late spring or summer, and autumn and winter are the best times to regain the weight lost during detoxification.
The easiest way to determine which dosha is inflamed is by the following signs: strong, sharp, acute pain indicates that vata is excited. A sign of excited pitta is all inflammatory processes, redness, and if liquid accumulates - pus, mucus or something similar, then kapha is excited. And then, based on these signs, you can determine what nature the disease is.

Panchakarma.
Depending on which dosha is inflamed, different cleansing methods are used. In Ayurveda they represent pancha karma. These are vomiting, laxative, enema, nasal rinsing and bloodletting. Vomiting is used in the case of excited kapha, a laxative in the case of excited pitta, and an enema is done in the case of out-of-balance vata. Nasal instillation is used if ama has accumulated in the head and brain, and bloodletting is used if the blood is infected. The most important and painless of all these cleansing methods are Ayurvedic enemas. However, here too you need to follow certain precautions.

Oiling and heating.
The next step is to bring the ama, firmly ingrained into the tissue, into a mobile state. In this regard, Ayurveda advises two things. The first is the dissolution of ama with vegetable oils, and the second is heat.
As for vegetable oils, if there is a lot of ama, it is best to use castor oil. This is the only remedy that completely dilutes ama. Castor oil removes ama completely, at least from the intestines. The recommended way to take this oil is to take a tablespoon of oil and drink it along with a cup of ginger tea made from ginger powder. Once the bulk of the excess ama is removed, you can start taking other oils, but until the excess ama is removed, castor oil should be used.
The next method that helps remove ama is heat. By nature, ama is cold. Therefore, you need to go to the sauna and try to sweat it out, using various means: diaphoretics, ginger tea, cinnamon tea. This will help warm up the body and make ama easily excreted.
Ayurveda gives one interesting example. If you take a dry stick and try to bend it, it will crack. First you need to oil it, heat it up and only then bend it. The same is true for our body. If you try to cleanse a cold and dry body, it may “crack”. Therefore, first you need to oil it properly, then heat it up, and after that you can do whatever you want with it. This preliminary step should not be neglected, because any detoxification procedures in a dry body can cause a negative effect.

Medicinal khichri.
Under no circumstances should one resort to cleansing processes if a person is too sick. First you need to restore strength and balance the doshas. “Ayurveda” advises preparing a special medicinal khichri for such patients. As we know, khichri is made from rice and legumes.
Medicinal khichri, which balances the doshas, should be prepared from thin or at least soaked rice, mung bean, moong dal. Two parts rice and one part mung bean. They must be properly boiled and turn into a homogeneous mass, to which you need to add asafoetida, black pepper, cumin, turmeric, coriander.
This is a diet for everyone who suffers from chronic or acute diseases. Khichri practically does not create any ama in the body, is easily digested, contains all the nutrients necessary for a person and restores strength well. You also need to add some ghee, ghee, and rock salt. This khichri is prepared only from moong dal.

Triphala.
This is the softest and surest way to restore health. You don't need to starve, you just need to take medicine and stick to a certain diet.
The medicine has such properties that it gradually cleanses all layers of ama, first the outer one, and then, with regular use for a month or two, gradually penetrates into the tissues, muscles, bones, brain, etc. and cleans out the most deeply ingrained ama from there.
Triphala consists of three fruits: amalaki, bibitaki and haritaki. Of these three, two fruits play a special role in Ayurveda.
It is believed that Amalaki was the first tree in the universe. At the dawn of creation, Lord Brahma created amalaki and that is why it has such amazing medicinal properties. An entire book is dedicated to this tree, in which various medicinal and other properties of its fruits are extolled.
Amalaki is one of the three plants that has five tastes at once. No medicinal plant has six tastes. Three plants: amalaki, haritaki and garlic, have five tastes. In these tastes, sour is mainly predominant, and all the others are additional, and only salty is missing. Amalaki's Virya is cold, and Vipak is sweet, even though the main taste is sour. This fruit is the size of a plum. It comes in several varieties, sometimes larger ones, but most often there are small fruits. This fruit contains as much vitamin C as twenty large oranges. The amalaki fruit tastes terribly sour, but its amazing property is that when you eat it and then drink it with water, it will seem like you have eaten honey.
The Amalaki fruit is distinguished by the fact that it balances all three doshas, and especially the pitta dosha, because it is sour. It promotes digestion and rejuvenates the body. This amalaki fruit is included in almost all anti-aging Ayurvedic tonics.

Translated, the word haritaki means “that which takes away diseases.”
It also has five tastes. Its main taste is astringent, and the other four, except salty, are additional. Her Virya is hot and her Vipak is sweet.
It increases life expectancy, rejuvenates, stimulates the body and enzymes in the body, as well as all types of agni. In addition, the haritaki fruit cleanses all channels, promotes the digestion of ama and has a laxative effect.
Bibitaki also has many beneficial properties, but not so pronounced.
Collected together, these three fruits in different proportions and quantities have unique properties. They are good for hair, for skin, for eyes. This is a very mild laxative. They can be used as an emetic, in the form of enemas, and also for washing the ears, rinsing the mouth and nose. But their main property is that they slowly and painlessly cleanse all body tissues of toxins, gradually returning all disturbed doshas to balance. To achieve a good effect, triphala needs to be taken every day for 3-6 months, depending on how seriously ill the person is.

There are several different ways to take triphala.
Take a teaspoon of powder and pour it into a glass of hot water in the evening. First thing in the morning, you need to drink water without powder, and you can add another portion of powder and drink it in the evening. This causes a laxative effect in some people. But regardless of whether this effect is caused or not, the medicine still penetrates the tissues and rejuvenates them. This is the best way to normalize intestinal function. A person who regularly consumes triphala for a long time will have ideal intestinal function and will get rid of all indigestion products.
A substitute for triphala is aloe gel. It does not have the same good properties, but it can still cleanse the body quite well. However, you need to take not aloe juice, but pulp. It also has laxative properties and helps get rid of ama that has entered deeply into the body. Unlike all other laxatives, aloe pulp does not extinguish the fire of digestion. As a rule, aloe leaves are minced through a meat grinder and stored in the freezer, or mixed with honey. In order for aloe pulp to be well preserved, it must be mixed with honey one to one.
If a person suffers from constipation and his intestines are clogged with ama, then he is recommended to drink a laxative. But no laxative should be used regularly. This can lead to very bad consequences. This lowers the tone of the intestines and ultimately causes the digestive fire to become very weak. In no case should you get carried away with senna leaves or other similar medicines. They can only be used in emergency situations. The only medicine that does not have such a negative effect is triphala and aloe gel. This gel is useful for people of all constitutions, and, above all, for pitta dosha and kapha dosha. Those with a vata constitution should add ginger to the gel.
There is another way to use triphala. You can take one spoon of triphala, mix it with a teaspoon of honey and drink it at night so as not to bother with water.

Fast.
If you have mild signs of excess ama, for example, fever or complete lack of appetite, you can try to get rid of ama in the simplest way: do not eat for at least 1-2 days. When the body cannot cope with excess ama and wants to burn it, then it is better to help it do this by simply not consuming excess potential ama for some time in the form of food, which will not be digested anyway. During fasting, it is very useful to drink ginger tea made from dry ginger, because ginger has a pungent taste, healing properties, and helps the body cope with ama very quickly.
Fasting should be stopped as soon as real hunger appears. In no case should you get carried away with the long fasts described in popular books, because long fasts are very dangerous and can only bring good results to people with a certain constitution and in certain cases. Ayurveda never recommends long-term fasting. As soon as real hunger appears, you can immediately start eating.

Moreover, people with vata and pitta constitutions find it difficult to endure a 24-hour fast even in case of illness. If it is difficult for them to fast, they can eat light boiled rice. This is the ideal food that can restore your strength. You need to take the rice, boil it very well, turning it into a liquid paste, and add a little oil to it. Such food can also cleanse the body of excess ama. The rice sold in our stores, Korean rice, is only relatively suitable for these purposes because it contains a large amount of starch. Before cooking, this rice needs to be soaked thoroughly. It must be kept in water for at least 4 hours to remove excess starch from it.
“Ayurveda” says that you should not get carried away with long fasts, firstly, because long fasting suppresses agni. Secondly, the hunger that a person experiences during a long fast goes very deep into the tissues, where the fear of the next fast develops. This fear is fixed deep in the consciousness, and then the person becomes greedy for food. As a rule, after such posts he tends to overeat. The surest way to get hunger out of control is to fast for a long time.

The mildest fast that Ayurveda recommends is to fast once a week, but you do not need to fast all day. People who suffer from ama need to have one fasting day at least once a week. “Ayurveda” states that it is best to arrange this fast on the day of the week on which you were born.
If we are talking about a deeper detoxification program, then longer fasts can be carried out, but in no case combine them with pancha karma. If one of the methods of pancha karma is used, for example, vomiting or laxatives, then under no circumstances should you fast. Conversely, if you are fasting, you should not do enemas. This is one of the mistakes of those who advise fasting and doing enemas at the same time. An enema creates an emptiness in the intestines. Feces create a kind of stability in the intestines. Without them, it becomes practically empty, collapses, and this can lead to undesirable consequences. In addition, enemas accompanied by fasting are very stimulating and unbalance vata.

The best fast that Ayurveda recommends, at least for vata, is the khichri fast. It completely, or at least to a large extent, cleanses the body of ama. Usually, for such khichri, not green, but yellow mung bean is used. These are a slightly different variety of peas, but only with the green skin removed. Yellow mung beans are slightly lighter than green ones.
For pitta, it is good to fast on raw juices, fruits or raw vegetables. However, you should not drink the juices of sweet fruits, because the sweet taste, on the contrary, leads to the formation of ama. It is best to use lemons and grapefruits for fruits, and parsley juice or even radishes for vegetables. You can also use celery and carrots. Carrots are a little heavy for fasting, and they aggravate pitta a little.

Kapha can fast on water for several days. Stop fasting immediately after the first signs of appetite. When a healthy appetite arises, the coating on the tongue disappears, consciousness becomes clear, clarity and lightness throughout the body increases, this means that the purpose of fasting has been achieved, and it must be stopped immediately.
Fasting should be combined with medications that restore fire in the body, that is, with various hot spices. You should definitely drink spicy teas: ginger tea, cinnamon tea, cardamom tea or fennel tea. You can also drink aloe juice.

There is another form of fasting when a person eats the same food every day. The digestive apparatus gets used to this food, and it does not need to strain its “intellectual” forces in order to cope with different combinations every time.
A buttermilk fast is the perfect thing. This is another alternative: instead of fasting on khichri, you can fast on buttermilk. Such a diet can completely rid a person of the main layers of ama, especially if he also consumes trikata. I fasted on buttermilk and at the same time drank trikata. I did this for 8 or 9 days, and then broke the fast for 8 days. During this time, I almost completely got rid of ama and felt much lighter.
Fasting with buttermilk is shorter, more effective, and it expels toxins faster. If a person is weak, then it is better to fast on khichri, but if he is strong, then he can fast on buttermilk.
It is ideal to combine fasting with Ekadashi. So this can be done twice a month.

Trikatu.
There is another very good remedy that burns toxins in the body and is combined with any type of fasting. It is a mixture of three hot spices called trikatu.
You need to take equal amounts of dry ginger powder, black pepper and long pepper. Instead of long pepper, you can use cayenne red pepper. Not the usual red chili pepper, but cayenne pepper. Then mix all these three powders in equal volumes and take 1/3 teaspoon along with 1 teaspoon of honey 2-3 times a day. This can be done for a week or even 10 days, which is quite painless for any dosha. This mixture burns toxins in the body very well. It is better to make a fresh mixture each time, because ginger and black pepper lose their properties after some time after grinding.
If a person of pitta constitution uses trikata, he must combine it with something bitter in order to balance the stimulating effect of trikata on pitta. Kapha and Vata are not in danger of this.
For bitter products, you can use the Swedish black balsam of Bitner, aloe, you can get cheap neem leaves in India - an excellent source of the purest bitter taste, as well as barberry. Turmeric also has a bitter taste. For pitta, turmeric can be placed in trikata.
The best spices are cayenne pepper, black pepper, dry ginger, asafoetida and mustard. They are the best to help get rid of ama. Auxiliary spices that are very good: cardamom, turmeric, coriander, rayon and fennel.
If you want to use trikata not during fasting, then you need to drink it half an hour before meals. This helps to ignite the fire of digestion in a person, which very well helps to digest the food eaten.
If pitta is excited, it is also recommended to use aloe gel.

Black pepper.
It is said that black pepper contains all five maha-bhutas in equal quantities.
Black pepper contains energy that greatly activates metabolism and allows the body to get rid of indigestible products.
Black pepper must be present in our diet, but in no case more than nine peas a day. It should not be consumed in excess.
A general purpose tonic recipe recommended for people of all constitutions. It gives energy and also allows a person to protect himself from the accumulation of ama. So, you need to take seven black peppercorns, crush them properly, and mix them with half a teaspoon of honey. In this case, you need to stir with your index finger clockwise, making 108 circles, and repeating “Vishnu”.
All recipes given in Ayurveda, for example, in the Charaka Samhita, are given along with mantras. An Ayurvedic doctor makes the medicine himself and while making the medicine he must always chant a certain mantra. There are different mantras for different medicines, depending on the medicinal strength. The mantra enhances the effect of drugs. There are mantras such as Gour. People who do not belong to our sampradaya do not know that this is the name of Lord Chaitanya, which is also given in Ayurveda. In this recipe you need to repeat “Vishnu” 108 times. It is said that if you repeat “Rama” once, it is equivalent to repeating the name of Vishnu a thousand times. And if you repeat “Krishna” once, it is equal to repeating “Rama” three times.
You need to take this tonic slowly, five minutes before meals, while repeating “Vishnu, Vishnu.” This will give you a good boost of energy and you will always feel invigorated. If a person feels the first signs of a cold, then the first thing he should do is take this tonic. It is said that in this way a cold can be killed in the bud, or at least its course can be alleviated. If a person takes this tonic regularly, then he will generally get rid of colds, even if they are chronic. Children don't need that much black pepper.
Tonic to improve memory. You need to take ten almonds, soak them in water overnight. In the morning, peel, grind, add 10 grams of butter and 2 grams of crystalline sugar. Consume this for 30 days. More the better. This is a very good brain tonic.

Lemon.
Lemon cleanses the blood, liver, lymphatic system, and pancreas. Use as follows: on an empty stomach, drink warm water in which one slice of lemon is mashed.

Detox diet.
If you decide to follow a diet in order to get rid of toxins, you need to limit yourself to fruits. You can eat them only in small quantities, and under no circumstances should you eat sweet fruits. Bananas, pear juice, cherry juice, grape juice and other sweet fruit juices should not be consumed. The best foods to eat are cranberries, lemon, grapefruit and pomegranate. This is a food that helps get rid of toxins.
You can eat all vegetables, but only in small quantities and boiled. Fried vegetables should not be consumed, as should cabbage and potatoes. All other vegetables are ok.
White flour should not be consumed from grains. This is a very amagenic product that promotes the active formation of ama. White flour is also difficult to digest.
The only thing worse than white flour is sugar. Sugar further contributes to the formation of ama. For sweets, you can eat honey.
Wheat should always be consumed in limited quantities because it is difficult to digest. It can only be consumed by those who have a healthy body. It is not recommended for a lightening, fasting diet. The best cereal dish is khichri.
You can't eat anything from legumes except mung bean. Mung bean, moong dal, is the only product that can be consumed with such a diet.
You can't eat anything from nuts either, except for a small amount of sesame.
You should also not eat anything from dairy products except buttermilk or ayran, diluted yogurt, ghee, just a little.
But spices can be eaten in unlimited quantities.

General notes regarding this diet. You should not eat too many different foods at one time. You should not drink a lot during meals. Food must be fresh. If you are following this diet, do not reheat the khichri you prepared the day before yesterday. You can eat three times a day. For vata, you cannot stay on this diet for more than three weeks or a month, pitta can also fast for about three weeks, and kapha for an unlimited time. When any signs of vata arousal appear, such as insomnia, rapid heartbeat, weakness, loss of appetite, then all fasts and diets should be stopped immediately.
If your hunger has returned during the detox diet, then this is a good confirmation that you have already largely gotten rid of ama and you need to stop the diet. There is no need to fast for too long. Unfortunately, we are all, to some extent, prone to going to extremes. If fasting means at least forty days. If on a diet, then until complete emaciation and exhaustion. When hunger is restored, it means that ama has gone and the digestive fire has returned to normal. But if you continue the diet, the fire will weaken again.

Prakshalana.
Prakshalana is a controversial thing. It gives primary cleansing. It should not be used more often than once every two months, as it stimulates vata and partly pitta, does not relieve a person from constipation and does not give special tone to the intestines. It does a preliminary cleansing, but does not cleanse the deep layers of ama. It also does not relieve the tendency to constipation. It has some effect, but this effect is not very deep. Prakshalana is not as good as triphala.

Balancing the doshas.
So, first a person must free himself from toxins that interfere not only with his digestion, but also with his treatment. No nutrients are absorbed into the body where there is too much ama. Not only nutrients, but even medicines are not absorbed into it, therefore, no matter how much a person in this condition takes medicine, these medicines will not have any effect on him.
The next step, after a person has become free of toxins through one of the described detoxification programs, is to balance the doshas.
In order to return the excited vata dosha to balance as soon as possible, for example, such a diet is recommended. Among the spices, she can use dry ginger, fennel, and dill seeds. They will remove the remnants of deeply ingrained ama from the body. To start a fire, use lemons for the sour taste, rock salt for the salty taste, and ginger for the spicy taste. These are the necessary components to restore fire. The diet should be light. The food should generally be boiled, but never raw, and accompanied by plenty of warm ginger tea. You need to do yogic exercises, sunbathe and avoid drafts.
For pitta, you need to regularly consume fennel and sometimes dry ginger. To light a fire, you need to consume tripphala and flax seed. Food should be light or raw. People who extol the benefits of a raw food diet tend to have a pitta constitution. They have become convinced that a raw food diet has a good effect on them, and therefore they try to force it on others. But it can cause harm to others. For vata and kapha, a raw food diet is not suitable, but for pitta it is good as a fasting and balancing diet.
Kapha: to balance this dosha, dry ginger or black pepper, as well as Indian cumin, can be used as spices. The diet should include bitter and hot spices. You need to try to significantly limit yourself in food and liquid. It is better to drink ginger tea and exercise more.

Recovery stage.
By balancing the doshas, a person regains strength. These are mainly dairy products and cheeses. This should be done after a person has gotten rid of excess dosha, excess toxins, and then he can begin to restore his strength. You can eat sweet fruits, nuts, butter. There are no special restrictions. Oil massage helps restore damaged tissues. He should sleep more, get a massage, walk, etc.
If a person has indigestion, one way to restore the fire in the stomach, jatar agni, is to sit in the lotus position for 30 minutes a day.

Conclusion.
