Ariston water heating boiler instructions. Ariston water heater: operating features and self-repair

The Ariston water heater is represented by a fairly wide range of plumbing fixtures and corresponding standard model lines.

The products of this brand have the following categories:

  • traditional boilers;
  • floor boilers;
  • condensing boilers;
  • floor boilers;
  • boilers with indirect heating;
  • gas instantaneous water heaters;
  • water heaters equipped with heat pumps;
  • gas storage water heaters;

Each device is equipped with heating elements, control devices and additional accessories.

Why are Ariston water heaters created?

Household water heating appliances that run on electricity are most often used during hot water outages. As a rule, compact models are purchased. When professionally installed, it provides warm water for daily household needs: washing, cleaning or showering.

In private sectors, gas and larger volumes with storage are used for all communications. In this case, household appliances from the famous Italian company are used all year round.

How to turn on an Ariston water heater

Under no circumstances should you turn on an empty heater!

For most household appliances, the following instructions are typical when turned on for the first time:

  1. Open the cold water supply valve (not to be confused with the safety valve);
  2. Open the hot water tap or lever from the mixer connected to the water heater;
  3. Wait a certain amount of time to collect water;
  4. When the heater is full, water should flow from the faucet;
  5. Provide proper power to the device;
  6. At first starts, the temperature should be set to the middle position; over time, the liquid temperature level is adjusted to save and quickly heat up;
  7. Ariston electronic models are adjusted by buttons for the required heating level;

These steps must be performed by the installation wizard.

Due to inexperience, they forget to open the valve responsible for supplying hot water from the boiler. If it is not fixed in the desired position, the heated water from the device will flow into the riser of the house.

Ariston water heater repair

Ariston water heaters have vulnerable parts:

  • thermostat;
  • sensors;
  • switches;
  • heating elements.

The most common repairs are valves and insulation gaskets. The integrity of the tank is compromised less frequently. This breakdown occurs due to corrosion or careless handling. The tank needs to be repaired only by a service center.

Do-it-yourself repairs involve timely preventative cleaning. Every six months it is recommended to clean the heating element for the Ariston water heater.

How to determine the malfunction?

Everything is simple, with obvious changes in work:

  1. Strange hissing during operation.
  2. The standard heating period increases.
  3. Turning on and off has become noticeably more frequent.

Any high-quality Ariston device is easy to handle when repairing it yourself. But it is better to follow these instructions:

  1. Disconnect the room and device from power.
  2. Drain the water. Drainage must be ensured using a hose with a diameter slightly smaller than the hole for discharging liquid.
  3. Place the flush hose in the toilet.
  4. Shut off the cold water supply.
  5. Disconnect the hose from the cold water valve.
  6. Connect this hose to the tap and lower it into the toilet.
  7. Remove the heating element. Its fastening is always on a nut with a washer or plate.
  8. Having pulled out the heating element, carefully examine all places with scale and try to remove everything without harm to the tank.
  9. After removing the scale, pour clean water over the tank.
  10. If the heating element itself is in working order, then you can clean it in the same way.
  11. Install all hoses and heater parts in the same order.

The budget-friendly and optimal way to remove scale is citric acid diluted in water. This solution is poured into the tank and left for 24 hours.

With an independent approach, you can and should only replace parts with original ones. Spare parts for Ariston water heaters from the manufacturer guarantee quality, money invested in repairs and stable operation of the devices.

Modern water heating devices are classified primarily by displacement. The selection also begins with the tank volume. Each of the Ariston models is designed for specific rooms and frequency of activation. What is the difference between the models?

Review of the Ariston Velis PW 50 Water Heater - video

For the convenience of quickly obtaining hot water indoors, regardless of central heating, storage electric water heaters - boilers - have been developed. The range of electric heaters is very wide. Today we will take a detailed look at the operating instructions for one of them, namely the Ariston water heater.

Your job is to use it correctly

Having purchased Ariston electrical equipment for your home, do not forget to carefully study the instructions and always have it “at hand”. Following instructions should not be in any way sceptical or underestimated as it is your safety first and foremost. Even if you accidentally lost the instructions for the device, you can get its electronic version specifically for your Ariston model on the official website of the manufacturer. People who create electrical devices check them, test them, put maximum useful information into application and operation manuals with the only important goal - so that you use them correctly. This article will also discuss general requirements and initial information.

Ariston 50 boiler diagram

Boiler designs have approximately the same construction scheme. It contains a housing, a water container (the boiler itself), and a heating element (otherwise known as a heating element, sometimes several of them are included in the package). A magnesium anode must be installed next to the heating element, which prevents the formation of scale. The boiler itself, both externally and internally, has a thermal insulation layer.

Two pipes lead to the water heater - one for supplying hot water, the second for cold. Boiler bodies can be cylindrical or flat. The boiler tank can have different capacities - from 30 to 100 liters. The basic principle of operation of a boiler is to heat water in a tank and maintain its constant temperature, set by a person depending on the need.

What you need to know about Ariston boilers

The main function of Ariston water heaters is to provide houses, apartments, cottages, and cottages with hot water supply for household purposes. In order for the electric water heater to serve for a long time and with high quality, the the following characteristics:

It should be noted that the instructions for water heater models that differ only in the system of different volumes of the same series are almost identical. There are two types of heaters based on the principle of operation: flow-through (the heat exchanger heats the temperature instantly as soon as you open the tap) and storage (water is drawn into the tank and then heated). Storage water heaters, or boilers, have compact tank, designed for different volumes - 30, 50, 80, 100 liters. Boilers can be directly heated (they heat the water themselves using gas or electricity) and indirect (such devices are located near a heat exchanger, for example, a boiler).

Installation of the device must be carried out by a specialist, otherwise your equipment will lose the right to warranty service. After installing an electric water heater check the following:

About installing an Ariston electric water heater according to instructions

Before installing the water heater, make sure the wiring can handle the added power. It is especially important that the outlet you are going to connect the device to is grounded and not exposed to water. The power supply to the water heater must go from the panel via a separate cable. When choosing a place to install an electric water heater, take into account its triple weight with water and the strength of the walls.

For fastening, hooks of at least 15 mm in size are required. It is recommended to install the water heater in close proximity to the dispenser, which will also reduce heat loss when supplying water to the point of disassembly. The distance from the ceiling is at least 10 cm, the space around the device is within a radius of at least 50 cm for technical work.

Under what conditions should the device not be installed?

If the water is hard, you must additionally install a filter, otherwise the water heater will quickly fail. Do not install the device in rooms where the temperature may be below zero, to exclude exposure to factors dangerous to the device - dampness, frost, direct sunlight, dust and insects. Maximum prevent splashes of water, steam on the body of the device, that is, it is not recommended to install it directly above the bathtub.

If the water pressure is low, it is necessary to set the maximum temperature mode, otherwise the device may not turn on at all.

Brand name parts only

All parts of the water heater must be in good working order when first installed. This is especially true for the safety valve. If damage is noticeable, the part should be replaced with a similar one. Do not use adapters or extension cords under any circumstances, or replace the water heater plug with another one. Separate power line required to power the boiler. If the power cord is damaged, replace it with a similar one.

When disconnecting the electric heater, use a two-pole switch, the gap between open contacts is from 3 mm. Also note that the pipes to which the water heater connections will be connected have withstood temperatures exceeding 80 degrees Celsius and the maximum operating pressure.

Precautions

If you know you won't be using the appliance for a while, simply drain all the water from it. To do this, turn off the power to the device, close the cold water supply valve at the water heater, and open the hot water tap on the mixer. Open the drain valve of the tee. The magnesium anode, which will be used up over time, should be replaced with a similar one. The first start-up of the device should be carried out strictly according to the instructions.

Prevention

If the boiler is used frequently, the first technical inspection should be carried out in six months or a year. Every 3 months it is recommended to drain the contents of the tank to remove sediment, which interferes with heat transfer and reduces the efficiency of the heating element. It is also recommended to replace the magnesium anode after a year of operation of the device. Never ignore any error codes that appear. You can see in detail what each of them means in the operating instructions.

When the cold weather arrives, we increasingly remember the warm summer and hot sun, when, to escape the heat, we hurried to the air conditioner or took a cold shower. What helps us fight the cold is hot water in the taps, which, alas, appears either at the height of the heating season or does not appear at all.

In some cities, problems with hot water may occur all year round, so the optimal solution in such cases would be a water heater or, in other words, a boiler. The difference between these concepts is not so significant, the main thing is that this equipment fulfills its function and prevents us from freezing in the winter.

In this article, we will try to figure out what to pay attention to, and get acquainted with the features of purchasing it for city and private houses.

Today, stores offer a colossal assortment of all kinds of heating devices, so we will consider the most popular and optimal option for the Russian market (in terms of price and quality) - the Ariston line of water heaters/boilers.

In total, there are two types of water heaters - instantaneous and storage. Therefore, first, let’s decide which type we need and consider both options.

Instantaneous water heater

The main difference between such units is that they heat water at the moment when it passes through heating elements. One of the most significant advantages is its more or less compact size due to the lack of its own tank and heating speed.

If we talk about the disadvantages, then, perhaps, one of the main ones is the colossal energy consumption of flow devices. "Ariston" are water heaters, the instructions for which say that they can consume from 5 to 30 kW, depending on the model. Therefore, it is worth paying special attention to electrical wiring and monitoring energy costs.

For some consumers, in times of austerity, such “requests” are an unaffordable luxury, which is why this type of heater is not in good demand in stores. Even almost instantaneous heating of water (7 liters per minute) is incommensurate with energy costs. On top of that, manufacturers recommend installing such equipment only if there is good water pressure.

The pricing policy of flow-through heaters depends on the selected power and the availability of additional electronics, so in some cases a flow-through device may cost a little more than an Ariston storage unit.

Water heaters, the price of which varies between 2000-4000 rubles. (Ariston Bravo, Ariston Slim), are equipped with a standard set of electronics and are perfect for the average family, and models are more expensive than 5,000 rubles. (Ariston Fast Evo, Ariston Professional) have more advanced sensors, regulators and other useful functionality. They found their application in large families and in special enterprises.

Storage water heater

Storage water heaters are precisely those units that are popularly called “boilers”. In terms of their energy consumption, they are strikingly different from the type described above and their power varies from 1.5 to 3 kW. Accordingly, the higher this indicator, the faster the water in the tank will heat up. A striking representative of the storage type is the Ariston Pro Eco water heater (Ariston Pro Eco PW 15-120, Ariston Pro Eco Slim P 15-80, Ariston Pro Eco ABS V 20-120).

The operating principle of such heaters is much simpler than flow-through ones. Cold water flows into a large tank mounted on the wall, then it is heated to the specified temperature, and at the output you get hot water.

The heating element for the Ariston water heater is located inside the tank, and depending on the model, it (the heating element) can be “dry” or “wet”.

"Dry" heating element

In this case, the element is positioned in such a way that during operation it does not touch the water, and this significantly increases its protection from scale and practically eliminates electric shock.

The only disadvantage is the high cost of a “dry” heating element (1.5-2 times more expensive than a “wet” one), and accordingly the amount for its repair also increases.

"Wet" heating element

The “wet” element, as you might guess from the name, is located in the water, which means that the problem with scale comes first for it. This is fraught with the fact that after scale formation, the thermal conductivity of the heating element decreases, and the heating time increases along with energy consumption.

A model with such an element is inexpensive, so it always finds its consumer, especially since any boiler owner can afford to repair Ariston water heaters with a “wet” heating element.

Another important part of any storage heater is the magnesium anode, which makes it possible to reduce the negative impact of incoming water on the heating element and the walls of the water heater.

Magnesium anode

The anode looks like a simple metal pin. Its main functional advantage is that it is evenly applied to the element. The layer thickness ranges from 20-30 mm for Ariston models. Water heaters, the instructions for which clearly indicate the location of the magnesium anode, are largely protected from the formation of corrosive deposits on the inside of the tank due to this element.

If the anode is not installed in your boiler or requires replacement, it is strongly recommended that you invite a specialist to install/dismantle the element, who can also check the degree of wear and carry out related replacement or repair procedures.

The heating element for the Ariston water heater and the magnesium anode have a specific shelf life, depending on the load and the environment, but it is recommended to change the elements and clean the internal walls of the boiler at least once every 14-18 months. Otherwise, there is a high risk of the walls of the heater being destroyed by rust from the inside, and one day the tank may simply burst.

But replacing the magnesium anode cannot always solve the problem of increasing shelf life. It's all about our water and its quality, which leaves much to be desired. There are often cases when the boiler elements simply cannot cope with poorly filtered water and then the entire water heater has to be replaced. The average lifespan of a boiler varies between 5-7 years of continuous operation, provided that all necessary repair procedures have been carried out during use.

Water heater volume

It is very difficult to advise anything specific here, because everything entirely depends on the type and size of the room where the boiler will be installed. The main factors are the number of people who will use the device and how much you are willing to spend on electricity per month. For example, an Ariston 15 liter water heater (Ariston ABS Pro R 15, Ariston Slim Eco PW 15) is quite suitable for 1-2 people, subject to infrequent use.

A useful element in your heater will be a special regulator responsible for heating the water. In standard models it looks like a “wheel”, and in more expensive lines keys are used along with a display showing the current state of the unit. Any consultant of the Ariston network will help you find out the equipment of the model.

Water heaters, the instructions for which strongly recommend that your unit be equipped with the ability to turn off (if it does not exist), will then not turn on at the slightest change in temperature, which will significantly help save you energy and extend the life of the device.

You can make such a switch yourself, you just need to have a little knowledge in this area and acquire an automatic machine (bagger).

During a long trip or absence, it is best to drain the water from the boiler to avoid damage or flooding of neighbors. This is not difficult to do; the Ariston water heater 15 liters (Ariston INOX PW 15, Ariston VLS QH 15) and larger models are equipped with a special hole in the tap.

Boiler capacity

As for the specific displacement of the tank, not all buyers have an idea of exactly what volume they need. On the one hand, it seems that the larger the apartment, the larger the volume should be, but on the other hand, one can only partially agree with this. When choosing the maximum displacement, you will rarely use it to the maximum, especially since such a volume requires significant costs and is difficult to maintain.

The best option for simple apartments would be an Ariston 80 liter water heater (Ariston INOX PW 80, Ariston VLS QH 80, Ariston ABS Slim 80). Its volume is more than enough to run a bath while achieving a completely acceptable temperature.

And if we are talking only about the shower, then 4 family members will be able to use hot water without problems. Moreover, a 120-liter boiler will cost almost twice as much as an 80-liter one, and not every room is suitable for installing a tank of such a volume.

Water heater power

On the shelves of branded stores, models with a power of 1.5-2 kW are most often found. This consumption is optimal for standard wiring, regardless of which model you are using - an Ariston gas water heater or an electric one.

But in order to avoid any problems, before purchasing a unit, you should consult with a specialist, who, in turn, will check your rated voltage and the wiring itself. The average heating rate (80 liters) is about 3 hours to maximum temperature. A smaller volume (15-20 liters) is perfect for the kitchen and will heat up in 1 hour.

Inner coating

The Ariston electric water heater is equipped with two types of coatings - enameled and stainless steel. Both types have advantages, as well as disadvantages. “Stainless steel” seems to be more serious, but the quality always leaves much to be desired, and the enamel coating is subject to increased wear at high temperatures, so heating such a boiler above 60 degrees is not recommended.

Location type

The question regarding the location of the boiler arises in rooms where space is very limited. The most popular units are models with a vertical type of arrangement, occupying the space of the room along the wall. Another advantage of such models is the increase in efficiency due to more time for cooling the water.

The horizontal type of boilers is less common. For example, take Ariston (water heaters). The instructions for them directly say that these units are inferior to vertical ones in terms of efficiency in maintaining the temperature of heated water. They cost a little less and have a very specific installation process.

Water heater installation

In most cases, boilers are placed either in the bathroom or in the toilet. Since the weight of the heater can reach 30 kg, the wall, like the fasteners, should be selected wisely. Repairing Ariston water heaters involves removing the unit, so it is strongly recommended to entrust both installation and dismantling to specialists.

The most difficult part of the installation process is the electrical wiring, which sometimes has to be further extended, since the standard cable is almost always short. Otherwise, everything goes quite quickly and without additional costs.

The Ariston company specializes in the production of water heating equipment. The Ariston water heater 80 liters (instructions are included with the device), as well as other models of devices are widely known to the residents of our country. Each new model has a more stylish design and is produced using the latest technologies.

Figure 1. Ariston water heater 80 liters

Characteristics of water heaters

All models of water heaters from the company have a very long service life. This effect is achieved by covering the internal walls of the device with modern materials that protect the boiler from rust. Cold and hot water inside do not mix, so it is possible to constantly maintain the temperature of the liquid inside the unit. Built-in temperature sensors are designed to protect Ariston from overheating. At the moment of a sharp change in the mains voltage, a protective device is triggered and disconnects the boiler from the network. A special layer of thermal insulation that keeps water hot allows you to save electricity or gas.

Some heater models are protected against bacteria. The water in such devices is always clean. Sometimes a situation occurs when there is no water in the water supply system. In this case, the device cannot turn on. Again, a special protection system will not allow him to do this. Almost all models of the company, including Ariston 80, 100, 30 liters, are equipped with the functions listed above. The main differences between the different models are only in the external design of the devices. The body can be flat, round, horizontal, vertical. Any of them fits perfectly into the interior of the room (Fig. No. 1). Their internal structure is exactly the same (Fig. No. 2):

  • internal boiler;
  • thermal insulation layer;
  • pipe for water inlet and outlet;
  • magnesium anode (Fig. No. 3);
  • thermostat with thermostat.

Figure 2. Design of an Ariston water heater for 80 liters.

A boiler is a tank for cold water. From the outside it is closed by an outer casing. The water entering the tank is heated by a built-in heating element. Sometimes there are 2 heating elements. This is if it is an electric water heater. There is a layer of thermal insulation between the boiler and the outer casing. In general, the design resembles a thermos device. The water in it retains its temperature for a long time. It comes out through the outlet tube. Ariston 80 also has a magnesium anode. It is installed to prevent the deposition of mineral salts on the inner walls of the tank. It should be changed as necessary. You can see this when cleaning heating elements (Fig. No. 4).

When the water is heated to the set temperature, the thermostat disconnects the device from the network. The operation of the unit is monitored using an indicator light. The built-in thermometer allows you to monitor changes in water temperature. This is how the Ariston 80, 50 liter, 100 liter and other models are designed. Their operating instructions are the same for any model. Each device comes with an instruction manual. You need to study it carefully, then the device will work for many years.

Figure 3. Magnesium anode.

Purpose of water heaters

A boiler is installed in a house to provide the home with hot water. The heater can be selected for 100 liters, 80 or smaller sizes. All Ariston models have the same internal structure, therefore the water heater connection diagram is used the same for this series of devices. It is better to invite a specialist to install the device. If you decide to do it yourself, the work should be carried out according to plan:

  • inspect the device from the outside;
  • prepare fasteners;
  • check grounding;
  • place the socket correctly.

Figure 4. Cleaning the heating element of the Ariston water heater.

When inspecting the device, you need to carefully check the safety valve. There should be no visible flaws on it. If they are found, the valve must be replaced. It is recommended to use plastic dowels and screws for them as fasteners. You need to connect a 100 liter heater or any other to a separate power supply line. The socket must be located in a dry place. The use of extension cords is prohibited.

Properly installed storage boilers start up immediately after they are plugged into the network. This is indicated by illuminated indicators. The temperature of the water inside the apparatus is also shown by thermometers.

Conclusion on the topic

There are many systems for providing hot water to private houses and country houses.

The most famous high-quality devices are produced by Ariston.

There are many models, but they all have the same internal structure. The instructions for using these devices are also the same for all brands. Storage devices for heating water differ only in their external outlines. All characteristics of different models are also the same. Only the 80 liter model can still use the antibacterial function. To activate it, you just need to press the “power” button and hold it in that position for 5 seconds. The water temperature can be set between 30-75 °C.

Every time you turn it on, you need to monitor the water level in the boiler. When turning off the boiler for a long period of time, you need to drain all the water from it. Each device comes with a 1 to 2 year warranty. Repairs are carried out in almost every city with a warranty card.

Water heaters are designed to heat a volume of water to a given temperature and then maintain the temperature automatically.

The water heating time depends on the power of the heating element and the volume of the water heater.

  1. The heating time for a 15 liter water heater with a 1.2 kW heating element (heating element) from 15°C to 60°C is approximately 45 minutes.
  2. The heating time for a 100 liter water heater with a 1.5 kW heating element (heating element) from 15°C to 60°C is approximately 3 hours 50 minutes.

Water heaters are equipped with:

  • Water heater
  • Safety valve
  • Bracket (for models up to 30 l inclusive)
  • Installation and operating instructions
  • Warranty card (issued by the seller)
  • Factory packaging

Operating principle and main elements

The water in the water heater is heated to the set temperature. When you open the hot water tap, cold water begins to flow into the water heater through the cold water supply pipe. Cold water coming from below displaces previously heated water through the hot water pipe coming from the top of the device. Thus, hot water, starting from the top of the tank, is supplied to the consumer, and from below the water heater is filled with cold water.

The thermostat is activated and the heating element (heating element) again begins to heat the water to the set temperature. In thermoelectric models, water heating in the water heater can also be carried out using a built-in coil, which is connected to the heating system.

The main elements of the water heater are:

  1. The internal tank is made of steel and protected from the corrosive effects of water either by fine enamel or enamel with a high titanium content. (depending on the model) or made of stainless steel.
  2. Thermal insulation - made of polyurethane foam, ensures minimal heat loss even when the water heater is turned off.
  3. Temperature regulator - sets the desired water temperature and is located, depending on the model, either outside or under the lid.
  4. Thermostat - monitors the set temperature and controls the supply of supply voltage to the heating element (heater).
  5. Safety valve - installed at the inlet of the water heater and prevents the return of water to the water supply line and protects the tank from pressure above 8 bar (atm.)
  6. Magnesium anode – additional protection of the internal tank from corrosion.

Installation

To install the purchased equipment, you can use the paid services of specialists from our service center (tel. TsTO "Elwes" - 270-39-12, 268-96-46), who will carry out all the necessary work.

You can also use the services of any other qualified specialists. However, in this case, Merloni TermoSanitari is not responsible for damage caused by incorrect installation and disregard for the recommendations of this manual, namely:

  1. The electrical connection must be made in accordance with the rules in section "2.3. Electrical connection".
  2. The safety valve included in the delivery must not be plugged or replaced.
  3. It is recommended that installation be carried out with the help of specialists with the necessary qualifications.

For ease of installation directly under the sink, the 10 l and 15 l models, designated with the letter “S”, have pipe connections from above.

To reduce heat loss along the length of the pipes, the device should be installed as close as possible to the point of hot water collection. To facilitate maintenance of the device, leave space for free access to the electrical parts (approximately 0.5 m).

For large-capacity water heaters (from 200 liters) that have a recirculation outlet, it is recommended to organize recirculation in the case of remote hot water collection points.

Mounting the water heater

A) Models with a capacity from 10 to 30 liters inclusive

Attach the included bracket to the wall. The fittings must withstand double the weight of a water heater filled with water.

Place the heater on the bracket protrusions and, pressing down lightly, place them on them.

B) Wall-mounted models with a capacity from 50 to 200 liters inclusive

Wall mounting brackets must support three times the weight of the heater when filled with water. It is recommended to use metal fasteners with a diameter of 10 mm (screws, screws, hooks, etc.)

Floor installation

Floor-standing water heaters from 200 to 500 liters are installed only on the floor and have legs included in the delivery set. To prevent the unit from tipping over, install the legs symmetrically so that the weight of the water heater is evenly distributed over the three support points. Secure the legs by screwing them to the walls of the water heater.

Connection to the water supply system

The hoses and connections connected to the water heater must withstand both operating pressure and a temperature of at least 80°C.

Standard connection

With a standard connection, the water heater operates under pressure determined by the pressure in the line.

The water heater inlet pipe is connected to the water supply system through the safety valve included in the delivery set.

For ease of maintenance, when connecting to a water supply system, it is recommended to add a tee outlet between the inlet pipe of the water heater and the safety valve, to which connect a tap to drain water from the water heater (to avoid accidental openings, it is better if it is opened using a special key).

To avoid damage, do not use too much force when screwing in the safety valve.

The safety valve has two functions:

  • allows water to flow in only one direction (is a check valve)
  • at pressures above 8 bar, it releases water through a hole on the side (calibrated at 8 bar)

The appearance of water drops from the safety valve opening during water heating is a natural process and is associated with the expansion of water in the tank when heated.

Under no circumstances should the valve opening be closed!

If the water pressure in the main exceeds 5 bar (atmospheres), a pressure reducer should be installed after the water meter.

Connection "with open output"

When using an electric water heater for one point of consumption, it is possible to use an “open outlet” circuit.

To do this, it is necessary to use the appropriate valves and make the connection according to the diagram in Fig. 2 in the operating instructions.

Installing a safety valve is not necessary, but it is still advisable to install one to prevent water from returning to the water supply system.

Note. This scheme is rarely used, since it is impossible to use a standard mixer.

Connection to an open water tank (country option)

If water enters the water heater by gravity from the tank, then the tee for distributing water from the tank to the water heater and other needs must be higher than the top point of the water heater.

Electrical connection

The power supply is supplied directly to the thermostat terminals using a cable of rated cross-section (for example, a three-core copper cable 3x1.5 mm²), and grounding is required. The ground wire is connected to the terminal with the symbol.

The power cable must be routed through the hole located at the back of the device and connected to the thermostat terminals and the ground terminal.

B) For models with a capacity of 50 to 500 liters inclusive, the power cable is connected to the thermostat terminals and the ground terminal through the provided hole in the plastic cover of the water heater. Attach the cable to the cover using the provided clamp.

To disconnect the heater from the network, use a two-pole switch (preferably an automatic one) with a distance between open contacts of at least 3 mm (the power cable and the two-pole switch are not included in the delivery package).

Make sure that the mains voltage corresponds to the value indicated on the heater nameplate.

Switching on and working

Commissioning

Make sure the electric heater flange is centered. If it is slightly misaligned, correct its position by loosening and tightening the nut(s).

Immediately before turning on, fill the water heater with water by opening the cold water supply valve and the hot water tap to displace the air. After filling the water heater, close the hot water tap, inspect the unit and make sure it is not leaking. Turn on the water heater. For models with a capacity of 10 to 30 liters, you must turn on the switch directly on the device itself.

The regulating thermostat controls the operation of the device.

In heating mode, the indicator light is on.

During operation, the cold water supply tube may become hot.

Before each subsequent turn on, make sure that the water heater is filled with water by opening the hot water tap and making sure that the water is flowing.

Temperature adjustment

For the thermostat, the maximum temperature setting ranges from 68 to 75°C.

The temperature can be adjusted by rotating the knob connected to the thermostat (for models with this knob) or by turning the thermostat adjusting screw with a screwdriver (for models without a knob - to do this, you need to remove the plastic cover).

It is recommended to set the control to position "E". In the absence of an external regulator, this is approximately 75% of the maximum. In this case, the device operates in economy mode, significantly reducing the rate of scale formation.

A) For models with a capacity from 10 to 30 liters inclusive

An increase in temperature is achieved by turning the screw clockwise, and a decrease - counterclockwise.

B) For models with a capacity from 50 to 500 liters inclusive

Reducing the temperature is achieved by turning the screw clockwise, and increasing it counterclockwise (as shown graphically on the heating level indicator or marked with "+" and "-" signs).

If the water heater is not under supervision for a long time, then you should disconnect the water heater from the electrical network and turn off the tap in the cold water supply line.

Shutdown for the winter

If the water heater will not be used during the winter (for example, at the dacha), then to avoid freezing of the water in the water heater, all water should be drained.

To do this, disconnect the water heater from the electrical network, turn off the tap in the cold water supply line, open the tap on the outlet pipe and drain the water from the inlet pipe (by unscrewing the safety valve or opening the tee tap).

Models 10 UR and 15 UR must be removed from the wall and turned over to drain the water.

Maintenance and repairs

Routine repairs and maintenance are recommended to be carried out by specialists with the necessary qualifications.

Replacing individual parts

Before carrying out any repair or maintenance operations, disconnect the device from the electrical network!

Replacing the thermostat and indicator light

A) For models with a capacity from 10 to 30 liters inclusive

To access the thermostat, unscrew and remove the front cover of the water heater.

The thermostat is removed after unscrewing the two fixing screws (without draining the water from the tank).

To replace a faulty indicator light, remove the thermostat by unscrewing the two fixing screws, disconnect the terminals and unscrew the light bulb from the socket.

B) For models with a capacity of 50 to 500 liters inclusive

To access the thermostat, unscrew and remove the plastic cover of the water heater. The thermostat is removed from the heating element terminals with a little force (without draining the water from the tank). To replace a faulty indicator light bulb, after removing the plastic cover, disconnect the terminals and remove the light bulb from the socket.

On 500L models, the adjustment knob must be removed before removing the plastic cover; Remove the thermostat from the mounting plate, unscrew the mounting screws, and remove the sensors from the sleeve.

Replacing the heating element

Before working on the heating element, the water heater must be emptied. To do this, turn off the tap in the cold water supply line, open the tap on the outlet pipe and drain the water from the inlet pipe (by unscrewing the safety valve or opening the tap of the tee outlet).

Models 10 UR and 15 UR must be removed from the wall and turned over.

A) For models with a capacity from 10 to 30 liters inclusive (And models SG 50, 80, 100)

  • Remove the front plastic cover;
  • Disconnect the power terminals and the ground terminal, unscrew the nut;
  • Remove the flange holder, then, holding the bolt with pliers, press the flange inward;
  • Now the flange can be pulled out by turning it 900;
  • When reinstalling everything, make sure that the flange gasket, thermostat and heating element are installed correctly.

B) For models with a capacity from 50 to 500 liters inclusive (except for models SG 50,80,100)

  • Remove the plastic cover;
  • Disconnect the power terminals and ground terminal;
  • When securing the flange with five bolts, unscrew the bolts and remove the flange;
  • When securing the flange with a clamp and bolt, unscrew the nut and, pressing on the flange with a movement directed towards the inside of the device, remove the flange by turning 90°;
  • The heating element is connected to the flange;
  • When reinstalling everything, make sure that the flange gasket, thermostat and heating element are installed correctly. For horizontal models, the heating element must be mounted facing down.

Replacing the rubber gasket

When dismantling the flange, it is advisable to replace the rubber gasket with a new one.

Regular Maintenance

The scale can be carefully scraped off the removed heating element so as not to damage its protective surface, or the heating element can be treated with substances designed to remove scale.

For additional protection against corrosion, Merloni Thermosanitary water heaters are equipped with oversized magnesium anodes. With the aggressive properties of water, the magnesium anode wears out in 1-2 years.

It is necessary to check the condition of the magnesium anode ANNUALLY. If the magnesium anode is severely worn, it must be replaced!

The warranty for a tank with a worn magnesium anode (remaining length less than 5 cm) is invalid.

To replace the magnesium anode, remove the flange of the heating element, unscrew the old magnesium anode and screw on the new one.

Following regular maintenance rules will allow you to ensure a long service life of your water heater.

When a two-pole protective device is triggered

In the event of water overheating, a thermal fuse (in accordance with C.E.I. standards) breaks the electrical circuit on the side of both connections to the heating element. In this case, you should determine the cause of overheating and manually reset the thermostat by pressing the reset button located on the thermostat (or, if faulty, replace the thermostat).

  1. Before calling a technician at the first suspicion of a malfunction, first check whether the reason for the failure is the lack of light or water.
  2. If hot water does not flow from the taps, first check that the water and electrical connections meet the requirements outlined in the relevant sections of this manual. Check the connections between the terminals and the corresponding thermostat terminals. If everything is in order, it means that the two-pole protective device may have tripped (see the previous section), or the circuit breaker has been turned off, or the heating element has burned out.
  3. Before performing any maintenance, repair or cleaning, disconnect the heater from the electrical and water supply.
  4. If the indicator light does not turn on and the device heats the water, check that the light bulb is working properly.
  5. If the safety valve is equipped with a handle for draining water from the water heater, it is recommended to flush the safety valve at least once a month to avoid clogging. To do this, you need to lift the handle several times.
  6. It is not recommended to remove scale from the inner surface of the tank, because... The scale layer is an additional protection of the tank from corrosion.
  7. When connecting to a water supply system, direct contact of two different metals should be avoided (for example, when using copper pipes). For this purpose use connecting dielectric adapters, which can be purchased from an authorized service center.
  8. Thermoelectric models

    (for models with a capacity from 50 to 300 liters inclusive)

    An additional operation for this type of water heaters is to connect them to the central heating network.

    Connect the top terminal of the water heater to the rising circuit of the central heating system, and the lower terminal to the descending circuit, using 2 valves.
