Cracked heels appear when the skin is too dry. You can get rid of them by steaming the rough skin of your feet, scraping the skin with a pumice stone and taking special baths:

  • From a decoction of dried St. John's wort leaves with the addition of vinegar. Preparation: 1 tbsp. Pour boiling water (2 cups) over a spoonful of St. John's wort leaves and simmer for 10 minutes. After the broth has cooled to a warm state, add 2 tbsp. spoons of vinegar.
  • From a decoction of potato peels. Preparation: boil the potato peels in 2 liters of water, then pour the broth through a sieve and, after cooling until warm, take baths for about half an hour, then clean the heels with pumice. The procedure is allowed to be carried out every day.
  • From potato or corn starch. Directions for use: 1 tbsp. l. starch, pour 1 liter of warm water, stir and keep the feet in the solution for 15–20 minutes, gradually add warmer, clean water. After this, wet your feet and apply cream. Procedures must be carried out daily.

For numbness in the legs

Legs can go numb for various reasons. This can happen when wearing tight shoes and sitting. It’s worse when your legs go numb due to spinal disease, diabetes and other serious illnesses.

Anti-numbness baths can help if blood circulation is simply temporarily impaired, and they help restore it. The most common recipes are as follows:

  • Contrast baths. Directions for use: Pour hot and cold water into two containers. The hot one should be at a temperature that can be withstood. Cold water should be ice cold. Alternating (every minute) a cold bath with a hot one increases blood circulation and the numbness goes away.
  • Usage table salt, ammonia and camphor alcohol. Directions for use: dissolve 1 tbsp in 1 liter of water. a spoonful of salt, add camphor alcohol in the amount of 10 g, ammonia 10% - 50 g. Stir everything and take baths at room temperature for 10 minutes, and also rub the joints with this product. It is better to carry out procedures at night. These products effectively increase blood circulation.
  • Using sea ​​salt, dry mustard and baking soda. Directions for use: add 1 tbsp to 2 liters of warm water. a spoonful of sea salt, dry mustard and 0.5 tbsp. spoons of baking soda. Mix everything well and use the composition for the procedure for numbness in the legs for at least 30 minutes. After finishing the procedure, wipe your feet with a towel and put on warm socks.

For calluses and corns

A common foot problem in the summer is calluses and rough skin. This is due to uncomfortable open shoes. Softening baths are especially helpful for such phenomena. Recipes can be the following:

  • Using sea ​​salt and ammonia. Directions for use: add 2 tbsp to 1 liter of warm water. tablespoons of sea salt and ammonia, stir everything and keep in the foot for about 15 minutes. After this procedure, the skin will become soft, which will make it possible to remove calluses.
  • Using liquid soap, ammonia and soda. Directions for use: 2 liters. add 1 tbsp of warm water. spoon of soap, alcohol and soda and keep your feet in this mixture for about 30 minutes. Then remove the softened skin with pumice and remove calluses.
  • With boric acid. Method of use: add 50 ml of boric acid to 0.5 liters of water and take this bath for 10-15 minutes. After this, pat your feet dry with a towel and lubricate them with Vaseline. Cover the calluses with a medical plaster and put on cotton socks. Carry out the procedure at night. In the morning, wash your feet using hot water and then wipe dry.

To cleanse feet from dead skin

To soften rough skin, you can make baths using the following recipes:

  • Based on baking soda and essential softening oil. Directions for use: add 1 tbsp to 1 liter of water. a spoonful of baking soda and a few drops of rose or tea tree oil.

Remember that hot baths cannot be performed if you have varicose veins - in this case, the baths can only be warm, and the total time of the procedure should not exceed 10 minutes. Also, the water temperature should be adjusted depending on your condition. Do not use hot foot baths if you have a fever or high blood pressure as this may worsen your condition. Pregnant women should also approach this issue with extreme caution. A number of other contraindications may depend on the ingredients you use, then individual intolerance to the components is taken into account.

  • baths are used only after the main cleansing of the feet;
  • the duration of any bath should not exceed 20 minutes;
  • after the procedure, the feet are wiped dry - this is a prerequisite for preventing the occurrence of irritation and the development of fungal diseases;

To relieve swelling and normalize blood circulation, use infusions of herbs such as calendula, linden and birch leaves, juniper berries, lingonberry berries and leaves, horsetail herb, marshmallow roots. They can be used as a single mixture, or you can combine only two components at your discretion. Of course, you can use one of the above herbs to achieve the desired result.

After the choice is made, prepare the decoction according to the instructions on the package and refrigerate the composition. If you use fresh raw materials (you cannot collect herbs in cities and regional industrial zones!), just rinse it in cool water, and then fill it with boiled water, but cooled to 40-45oC. When the base of the bath is ready, add a tablespoon of soda and sea salt to it - they will help quickly remove lactic acid and toxins accumulated in the tissues.

It should be noted that when using fresh raw materials, you should not add essential oils to the bath, since the leaves and flowers already contain the esters necessary for the effectiveness of the procedure. Rinsing your feet in “sea” water helps relieve fatigue. At home, you prepare it using sea salt, which can be enriched with plant extracts. It is especially good to use pine salt in combination with propolis or resin melted in water to relieve heaviness. In addition to the muscle-relaxing effect, this procedure allows you to cope with prickly heat, irritation, fungus and bad odor.

To ensure that the anti-fatigue bath has the maximum effect, put on warm socks after it and let your feet rest. It's best if you take a horizontal position and put your feet on a pillow to elevate them a little.

Foot baths for good sleep

Fatigue and heaviness in the legs are often combined with the inability to sleep. Contrast baths help to cope with restless legs syndrome and torsion. To carry them out, you will need two containers with hot (45°C) and cool water (10-15°C). Lower your legs one by one, then the other, keeping your feet in the water for no more than one and a half minutes. For greater effect, it is better to use two buckets so that the legs are immersed at least to the middle of the shin. This procedure should be carried out 10-20 minutes before going to bed, or in the morning to prevent overstrain of the legs and the appearance of muscle twisting. But remember that after such a bath your feet should stay warm for some time.

Excellent bath ingredients for good sleep are decoctions of herbs such as motherwort, valerian, lemon balm, mint, St. John's wort, lavender, chamomile, and sage. They have a wonderful effect on the entire nervous system, relieving not only muscle tension, but also emotional tension. This allows you to calm the nerve receptors in the tissues and relieve pain and get rid of tired legs. In combination with them, essential oils of lavender, eucalyptus, and lemon balm can be used.
