If your face is densely covered with acne, you need to apply the acid with a cotton pad very carefully, not rubbing, but lightly rubbing. A slight tingling and burning sensation may occur. A few minutes after application, you can rinse your face with cool water.

Before using salicylic acid, it is a good idea to do a sensitivity test. To do this, start “treating” one pimple, for example on the forehead, and not a whole scattering of them. Intolerance to this drug may manifest as severe itching and flaking, redness in the area of application, and burning. In this case, you will have to use either an alcohol-free lotion, of which there are quite a lot on sale, or a completely different drug.

Typically, to combat acne on the face, the acid treatment procedure is carried out in the evening before bed after thoroughly cleaning the face of makeup and dirt. After applying the acid and rinsing with water, the skin can be lubricated with panthenol, levomikol or other caring anti-inflammatory creams. The procedure is repeated for 2-3 days, as a rule, during this time the pimple “ripens”, opens and dries out. Next, it’s a matter of small things - to prevent the secondary appearance of foci of inflammation and make acne spots less noticeable. To do this, over the next few days, it is advisable to lubricate the face or problem areas with a solution of salicylic acid, not forgetting about anti-inflammatory creams.

Recipes for facial products with salicylic acid

At home, you can make a particularly strong solution to combat acne. To do this, you will need a 1-2 percent acid solution, streptocide powder and chloramphenicol tablets. 2 sachets of streptocide and 5 crushed tablets of chloramphenicol are poured into a bottle with acid. Shake everything well and apply it to problem areas of the skin pointwise. The application procedure is carried out in the evening for 3 days, then a break for 2 days - and treatment again. The procedure can be supplemented with panthenol-based care products.

Special and salicylic acid are commercially available. Such products perfectly combat the problem of blackheads, discoloring them and cleansing the skin. In the case of oily skin, you can regularly (2-3 times a week) lubricate problem areas of the face with a 1% solution of salicylic acid. It promotes discoloration of blackheads and self-cleaning of pores.

A less aggressive method includes masks based on cosmetic clay with salicylic acid. After dilution, add a teaspoon of salicylic acid to the usual clay mask. The mask is applied to the facial skin for 15-20 minutes, then washed off with warm water and a caring cream is applied. This mask not only cleanses pores, but also promotes cell regeneration, increases blood flow, increasing skin nutrition.

The use of salicylic acid to treat facial skin is not recommended for pregnant women and people with sensitive, thin and dry skin. In addition, the skin quickly gets used to the action of the acid, so you should take breaks during treatment.

Salicylic acid is not a panacea, but it is a very strong and effective remedy for treating acne and cleansing the skin in general. Our grandmothers and great-grandmothers used it, but not because there were almost no other means of fighting for the beauty of the skin, but because of the speed of the effect and ease of use.
