The Order is a sign of a special award that is awarded to individuals for outstanding achievements in military and public service, sports, science, art, as well as in the social and political sphere. Orders are divided into state and public. The order in modern understanding is the highest form of awarding an outstanding citizen, regardless of his social affiliation. The emergence of the order is associated with the knightly tradition. In the Middle Ages, only those citizens who stood at a high social level were awarded orders. Holders of honorary orders at that time were bound by the common goal of serving the Russian state. A medal is a distinctive sign that is awarded for important achievements in one or another area of the national economy, art, science and sports. In ancient times, medals were also awarded only to distinguished people of the upper class.

How to attach medals straight to a police jacket

Due to the increase in the number of military personnel who received the award more than once, it was decided to wear order bars instead of orders for everyday wear.

For this purpose, each of the awards was assigned a specific moire ribbon.

The corresponding Decree appeared in the summer of 1943. This document determined the place of wearing, the method of attachment, as well as the sequence of awards. Status: Offline Prankster Registration: 08/21/15 Messages: 249 Mounting options All order bars differ from each other in several parameters - size, material from which they are made and method of fastening.

They can be of several types: On a pin.

People who have been awarded a medal or order have the right to wear either the awards themselves or the corresponding ribbons established by the rules. Usually awards are worn on very special occasions; for everyday wear, ribbons attached to special strips are most often used.

Types of order bars

The order bar is a rectangular backing, which is intended for wearing order ribbons. Currently, there are two types of execution accepted. The first is made on a flexible fabric base, the second on a solid metal one. According to existing rules, if there is more than one order bar, they should be worn not separately, but together.

They must be located on a common basis. At the top are awards that have a higher status. The specific location depends on the status of the award. The rules of wearing are established by the relevant presidential decree.

The backing, made of fabric, can have different colors. In this case, its shade is selected to match the shape on which it will be attached. The color can be blue, gray, olive, etc. If the bar is located on a metal base, then in order to maintain an attractive appearance for as long as possible, it is sometimes placed in a protective plastic shell.

Metal backings are often attached to uniforms using a pin located on the back. Fabric strips must be sewn to a uniform or shirt. Relatively not so long ago, a new type of fastening appeared, called “butterfly”. Similar to all departmental orders and medals, order bars should be placed on the left side of the uniform.

Currently in our country there are two standard sizes of planks. The first is 24x8 mm, intended for military personnel on active duty. The second is 24x12 mm, designed for veterans. Such products also differ in the mounting option, which is determined by the type of clothing the bar will be placed on - on a uniform or a uniform shirt.

The history of the appearance of order bars

In the first decades of Soviet power, order blocks did not exist. Orders were attached to clothing using a screw. They appeared during the Patriotic War. This was due to the fact that division into degrees occurred for the first time. If a person was awarded several degrees, a block helped to wear them together.

The surface of the pad is covered with a ribbon, on the reverse side of which there is a fastener so that it can be worn on uniforms. The award bar is covered with a matching ribbon. There are orders placed on the right side of the uniform that do not have pads. They also have corresponding ribbons assigned to them.

The massive heroism shown by Soviet military personnel in the first years of the Patriotic War confronted the leadership with the need to establish new insignia. As a result, new orders appeared in 1942, including the Order of the Patriotic War. For the first time in the history of the USSR, he had two degrees.

Wearing an order bar has many advantages, first of all, there is no risk of losing awards or damaging them.

Mounting options

All order bars differ from each other in several parameters - size, material from which they are made and method of fastening. They can be of several types:

  • On a pin. This type of fastener became widespread back in the days of the Soviet Union. But such a solution is less convenient and practical in comparison with modern types. The bar is difficult to attach straight.
  • On a collet. Today this is one of the most popular types. The fastening is very reliable and at the same time you can simply and quickly rehang the bar on other clothes. The nail piercing the fabric is clamped on the reverse side with a collet (butterfly). The diameter of the clove is very small, so the material does not deteriorate.
  • On a magnet.
  • Sew-on. It is used only if it is necessary to attach the product to the jacket. The edges of the planks do not bristle. However, this option is considered the most impractical.
  • Velcro.

The latter option is considered relatively recent, but it is becoming increasingly widespread. The reason is that such fastening using adhesive tape is very practical and convenient. It should be clarified that this type of fastening is intended only for uniforms and uniform shirts. It is not designed for the straps to be worn over outerwear.

This type of fastening of order bars will allow you to keep your shirt and uniform intact. There will be no unnecessary holes or abrasions left on them. How awards will be attached to uniforms depends on the personal preferences of their owner.

Collet strips - features

People who have awards know very well how much trouble it causes that orders and medals have to be regularly changed from one uniform to another. This is not only inconvenient, but also impractical, because the appearance of the uniform deteriorates. Therefore, order bars on collets are becoming increasingly popular due to the ease of their fastening.

These products cannot be purchased in retail, because each person usually has their own set of awards. In addition, the standards for active military personnel and people who have retired are different. Veteran models are larger in size. For production, high-quality moire ribbons are used, which are protected both from ultraviolet radiation and from various contaminants.

The convenience of clip-on planks is that there is no need to regularly alter them. You will no longer need to strip them so that you can wash your clothes. Clip-on fastening is a relatively new technology that allows you to very quickly attach straps to almost any type of clothing. At the same time, there is no risk of a fine that may be imposed for violating the fastening technology.

Products with a metal base pin

Metal strips are considered the most common, as they have a higher quality and, accordingly, a longer service life. Fabric products can be selected in such a way that they match the shade of the clothing on which they are intended to be attached. Fabric models are most often sewn to clothing, while metal ones are attached to it using a special pin. It has a great advantage - it makes it possible to quickly and conveniently remove the straps from one suit and attach them to another.

In addition, to ensure that the appearance of the product remains attractive for as long as possible, a protective film is applied to them. According to existing rules, such a bar should be located on the left side of the garment.

Although we have all been living in peacetime for a long time, there is still a place for exploits for which orders and medals are awarded. Therefore, order bars are in great demand not only among war veterans, but also among active military personnel. Employees of public organizations, law enforcement agencies, and the Ministry of Emergency Situations receive awards if their work is related to emergency situations. All recipients of awards are proud of them, but prefer to wear order bars instead.

Making planks

The order bar serves as the basis. Ribbons are applied to it in the prescribed order. The rules for their location are determined by the relevant documents. The higher the status of the order or medal, the higher it should be located. Each awarded person has his own set of insignia, so you cannot buy the corresponding bars; they are completed individually. Therefore, such products must be manufactured by professionals in workshops with special equipment and taking into account existing standards.

Fabric-based models are quite impractical and are becoming less and less popular over time. More often, people who come to workshops order pin-mounted strips, which are easier to use and easy to care for. In addition, they are more durable. They are often covered with a transparent film on top, which protects them from the negative effects of the environment.

The most practical are products made from moiré ribbons. This fabric is durable and highly wear-resistant. A bar made of this material with a collet fastening will last a very long time. In addition, it does not spoil clothes. Durability will also be ensured by the magnetic type of fastener, which is considered one of the best today.

The fabric from which the base is made can be matched to the color corresponding to the type of troops that are symbols. Blue is worn by pilots, green by border guards, khaki by military personnel of combined arms formations, etc. However, such products are not entirely convenient, since in order to wash the clothes, you have to tear them off and sew them on again. In addition, they themselves become dirty quite quickly.

How to wear the straps

Despite the fact that there has been no war for a long time, military conflicts and extreme situations periodically occur, in which military personnel often show heroism and courage. Their achievements are usually marked with various insignia. According to the statute, they are required to wear them. Veterans of the Patriotic War are rightfully proud of their well-deserved orders and medals. After changes in the uniform have been approved, it is allowed to wear insignia not only on ceremonial uniforms, but also on ordinary sweaters and shirts.

The Charter of the Armed Forces provides for wearing medal bars on the left side. Such products must be manufactured and completed individually for all recipients. Otherwise, non-compliance with the accepted procedure or violation of fastening technology may lead the award holder to penalties.

An excellent version of the product is pinned strips protected with transparent film. They practically eliminate the problem if you need to move the bar from one garment to another, which does not tear or get dirty. This is the best option for WWII veterans who, due to their age, are finding it difficult to care for their awards. If there is no protective film, it is best to choose moiré ribbons, as this fabric has excellent wear resistance.

Progress does not stand still and types of fastening are constantly being improved. In this case, the wishes of clients are often taken into account. Although magnetic or collet mounts cost only a little more, there are significant benefits to using them. First, a metal base is attached to the clothing, after which the order bar is placed on it. This is done using a clip. The base is held on clothing thanks to a special clip. He clings to a nail, which pierces the clothes. Since it is small, the holes are almost invisible, and the base can be removed very simply and quickly.

But even simpler are products with magnets. The fastener is based on a metal base and a clamping magnet. Its magnetic abilities do not depend on the thickness and type of matter. It is highly durable and can last at least ten years.

Order bars are considered a mandatory part of the uniform of a Russian officer. They will be shown in the best way and without further ado by the achievements of the serviceman. Therefore, it is desirable that these products are of high quality. By ordering them from real specialists, you can be sure that everything will be done correctly.

A chevron is sewn onto the left sleeve indicating membership in the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, and on the right sleeve a chevron indicating the service of a police officer is sewn. You can add Velcro to the chevrons. In addition, shoulder straps with buttons are sewn onto this jacket, and two lapel emblems are also attached. How to sew shoulder straps? For this, in addition to the jacket itself and shoulder straps, you will need a ruler, scissors, a needle, a thimble and strong red thread. Be sure to wear a thimble, even if you are used to sewing without one, as sometimes the needle passes through the shoulder straps with great difficulty, and you can injure your fingers. If you find it difficult to pull the needle and thread out of the shoulder strap, you can use pliers or tweezers. 1) First of all, prepare shoulder straps, i.e. attach all the required insignia to it, since it will be much more difficult to do this on an already sewn shoulder strap. 2) Take the shoulder strap and position it so that the side farthest from the button faces the seam that connects the shoulder of the jacket to the sleeve. At the same time, the upper edge of the shoulder strap, directed towards the back, should overlap the seam running along the shoulder by 1 cm. In other words, the shoulder strap should be slightly moved forward. 3) Thread a needle and fasten the shoulder strap to the jacket at three points: at the corners of the shoulder strap, at the place where it comes into contact with the sleeve seam and in the center of the semicircular cut. Now the shoulder strap will be securely fastened and will not move from the correct position during the sewing process. 4) Then very carefully sew the shoulder strap around the perimeter, making stitches in such a way that only barely visible points remain on its surface in those places where the needle enters the shoulder strap, and the thread between two adjacent holes passes mainly from the wrong side (along the lining) of the jacket . Then the thread will not be noticeable even if its color does not exactly match the color of the shoulder straps. In this case, the optimal length of each stitch should be about 1 cm. 5) With the second shoulder strap, follow the same pattern. How to strengthen lapel emblems? On the collar of the jacket - along the bisector (a line dividing the corner of the collar in half), at a distance of 25 mm from the corner of the collar to the center of the emblem, the vertical axis of symmetry of the emblem should be parallel to the flight of the collar. How to place awards on a police jacket? On the left side of the chest, awards are located in the following order: Insignia of special distinction are located so that the upper edge of the medal block is at the level of the ledge of the lapel of the tunic and jacket. When wearing two or more special insignia, they are arranged separately in one row, from right to left, with intervals of 10 mm between the lateral ends of the stars in the order listed. Special insignia of one designation are arranged in the order in which they were awarded. Badges of orders, orders and medals are arranged horizontally in a row from the center of the chest to the edge, from top to bottom in the order listed. When wearing two or more orders or medals, their blocks are connected in a row on a common bar. Orders and medals that do not fit in one row are transferred to the second and subsequent rows located below the first, placing them also from the center of the chest to the edge in the above order. The blocks of orders and medals of the second row must go under the orders and medals of the first row, while the upper edge of the blocks of the bottom row is placed 35 mm below the blocks of the first row. Subsequent rows are arranged in a similar order. Badges of orders, orders and medals are located on the single-breasted police jacket so that the upper edge of the block of orders and medals of the first row is located 90 mm below the level of the lapel ledge. On the right side of the chest, awards are located in the following order: Orders are located from left to right in the order listed. The upper edge of the largest order of the first row is located at the level established for the common bar (block) of the first row of orders and medals placed on the left side of the chest. Orders that do not fit in one row are transferred to the second and subsequent rows located below the first, also placing them from the center of the chest to the edge in the indicated order. The centers of the orders in a row should be at the same level. The distance between orders and rows of orders is 10 mm. The sign of the number of wounds made of golden galun (for a severe wound) or dark red color (for a light wound) is located on the fabric strip of the top of the product. Braid width 6 mm, length 43 mm. The severe wound badge is placed below the light wound badge. The distance between stripes is 3 mm.
