Visa to North Korea

The country continues to build communism under the leadership of the permanent ruling Kim clan, which has established a total dictatorship on the territory of the state. In order not to shake the foundations of its power, the leadership limits the entry of foreigners as much as possible.

In the case of a group tour, the visa is issued by a tour operator that is officially recognized by the North Korean authorities. If you are planning an individual trip, then it can also be done only with a tour operator, who in this case will act as an applicant for a visa to North Korea.

The visa application is processed for a month, and a regular tourist application form must be filled out in 3 languages: Russian, Korean and English. The North Korean Embassy in the Russian Federation does not even have a website, so it is impossible to see any more or less correct examples or tips, from which the conclusion is drawn that in the presence of such barriers, most likely independent tourists are not welcome in North Korea; a visit is possible only through an approved tour operator.

From January 1, 2014, Russia and South Korea abolish visas on a reciprocal basis. Russian citizens will have the right to stay in South Korea for up to 60 days in a row, but not more than 90 days within six months (180 days).

Some people, due to duty or desire to visit new and interesting places, have to apply for a visa to South Korea. Types of visas to South Korea

C – short-term visa for persons traveling to South Korea for the purpose of transit, tourism, visiting medical institutions, friends or relatives, journalism, business visits, marriage, participation in sports, cultural or scientific events, including conferences and symposiums.

C-3 is a subtype of category C visa, which is received by transit tourists and persons arriving to visit relatives. The mark S in the “types of visas” column means single entry. The validity period in this case is up to 90 days. Mark B – double entry. Validity period: 3 months, including double stay in the country for no more than 30 days.

A multiple entry visa is valid for up to one year.

D, E, H – long-term visas for persons traveling to South Korea on long-term business trips, to work under contract as highly qualified specialists, managers or for training (students, graduate students or masters). Validity period – from 91 days to 2 years.

F-4 - visas for ethnic Koreans, citizens of the CIS countries or China, who have received a master's or graduate degree in South Korea, and highly qualified specialists.

Documents for obtaining a visa to South Korea

So, every adult citizen, regardless of the type of visa to Korea, will need the following mandatory package of documents:

a foreign passport valid for 6 months at the time of visa request (for a long-term visa - 6 months after the planned departure from South Korea to another country or homeland),
a copy of the first page of the passport with personal data and photo,
a copy of old passports, if they contained visas to the USA, Australia, Japan or Schengen countries,
completed visa application form (2 forms for a long-term visa) in Korean or English,
a certificate from the place of study or work on an official letterhead, certified by the signature of the head and the seal of the organization,
1 recent color photograph 3.5*4.5 cm on a light background, taken no earlier than 6 months before applying to the consulate,
a copy of the pension certificate (if, of course, the person has reached retirement age).
*Bank account statement (recommended) and documents confirming ownership of real estate, vehicles or shares.

A visitor visa must be issued according to invitation party residing in South Korea. In this case, it is the receiving party that bears full responsibility for the private visit of a foreigner.
